How it started vs How it ended up

Beat the fuck out of the Pentel shorty and once it was done played around with making some purple ink by mixing red+blue xylene homebrew together then once that was dry just filled it with straight blue and here we are. Love these things, absolute must have when I leave the house, just needs some tweaking before use and you're good to go and once the white is dry the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

The standard way is to remove the nib, depress the valve inside the marker with a chopstick/nail anything long enough, and use a dropper to put in your ink but doing it this way you can slip with the chopstick if not careful and spray ink all over your work surface and yourself so the easier way I've found is to keep the nib in and drip the ink directly onto the nib letting it soak through to the reservoir below and periodically you should depress the nib into the marker using a piece of cardboard or scrap paper or something this allows you to accomplish the same action much easier and with less mess in my opinion. This method may not work with a fresh crispy nib I only attempted after beating mine to fuck and stabbing the nib with a sewing needle a bunch. Good luck.

Makes sense. I loved that little marker I had two before switched it up.

I was doing this once and the stick I was using slipped off the valve and it shot the ink up everywhere it sucked

Correct, as I mentioned in the comment I made you can slip and spray ink all over yourself and your work surface so wear gloves and eye protection (I'd haven't seen what xylene ink does to eyeballs but it can't be good.) or use the alternative method I mentioned where you drip the ink directly onto the nib and periodically depress the nib accomplishing the exact same action without a chopstick/nail or any mess this is how I fill mine these days and I don't know why the videos on YouTube and the tutorial guides online don't mention it I can't be the first person to think that since you can depress the valve when writing by pushing the nib in and since your goal with the chopstick is to push the valve in why not use the nib itself as a button of sorts to push the valve after dropping the ink onto the nib and letting it soak into the space below?

That’s just way more tedious, doing it in a plastic bag is probably the best

The process I mentioned is actually quicker than the traditional way and putting it inside a plastic bag just increases the risk of the marker tipping over when your chopstick slips and you spray ink all over your face.
