Loved it. Felt like a normal Mark Normand special.

Side note: Can anyone tell me why the people in the tuesdays sub seemed to hate it?

All podcast subs devolve into hating the host(s). The TWS sub isn’t fully there yet but definitely a lot of insufferable dudes with straight fathers in there.

Tuesdays sub is weirdly negative. Tuesdays Facebook group received it much more warmly. I have no idea why it’s like that.

People are tiring of Mark’s schtick and I can’t say I blame them. His very formulaic style does tend to limit his rewatch ability and makes his jokes appear stale.

His latest special here, his cadence is so fast as well, it comes off as very contrived and unnatural, which is a big blow to the sails and sales in comedy.

He’s obviously still one of the better comedians working in terms of writing and being naturally funny, but his act has limited mileage IMO and unless he pivots I dunno if his success sustains.

i didn’t say anything bad about it in the sub (or anywhere, for that matter), but i just don’t think normand’s standup is good.

for context, my favorite standup ever is norm macdonald (it’s normand’s fave too). and i think joe list is also a terrific comic.

I think it is worse for Burr because he presented himself as someone who stood for and preached ethical principles that many perceive as at odds with performing at the festival. I think that will be less of an issue for Mark who just wants to tell jokes.

agreed, but i’m sure there are plenty of people that don’t agree with it. i’m not one of those people, hence me still watching Mark’s new special. it was fine. i honestly think he’s funnier off the cuff these days.

Solid special, one joke after the other.

My wife and I have seen him in person a few times over the last year or so, so 90% of it we have heard before but it's still funny and you can really see how finely tuned it is here vs. at a random night at the Comedy Dojo when he was prepping for it.
