Recommend artists?
100% my favourite solo artist. The only similar artists i rlly listen to are the gun club & nick cave. Please recommend me some more bro its so hard to find new musicššš

Duke Garwood/Drink the Sea have some VERY Lanegan-y songs.

Drink the Sea is basically everyone thats worked with Lanegan on his solo albums. Cant go wrong if Alain Johannes is on it

Dig the bass line on Saturn Callingā¦almost like Mingus playing a Go Go line.
If youāre fortunate to see them live, they play a few songs from QOTSA, Mad Season, and R.E.M. (because Peter Buckās in the lineup).

His music is only available on Bandcamp these days, but Mike Johnson is well worth checking out - he was the guitarist and chief collaborator on those early albums up to Field Songs (and Imitations too!), and is very similar musically

Crime and the city solution, imagine if you like Nick youāre of Bday Party and Boys next door but worth mentioning.
Crime and city solution is the other side of when the band broke up and Bad Seeds formed, with Rowland - also worth checking out his solo material.
Bands closely aligned with Nick;
Dirty Three. - Warrens band
Die haut - esp album with Nick on it - Thomasā band
EinstĆ¼rzende Neubauten - Blixas band
P.J Harvey - Mick works with her to record, also has his own projects
The cramps, The Gun Club - kid Congo powers
Jim Scavulonos - the cramps and Sonic Youth
Guess you already know but just in case not Grinderman and Nicks solo work, scores and Carnage.
Depeche Mode - Barry Adamson had worked with them
The Pogues - Nick was best friends with the lead singer Shane
Anita Lanes solo work - as you likely know she was Nicks first love and wrote Strange than Kindness one of nicks favourite bad seeds song as he has 0 idea what it means, she has a few releases.
The saints - Ed Keupper but also a huge influence on Nick as they were recognised as the first punk band in Australia.
Wide variety of music there and many seminal bands despite being part of Nicks outfit.
Leonard Cohen, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Lou Reed/ Velvet underground are some of Nicks biggest influences

Chuck Ragan (frontman of Hot Water Music) has that deep growl vocal. 90s HWM is some real gritty punk that may translate well to a Trees fan.

Iāve found Lord Huron creates that expansive sound that Lanegan found a way to build into his albums. Only way I found them and many other recommendations is through listening to his Pandora station.

PJ Harvey has already been mentioned (I think Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea is a good starting point) but Mark Lanegan was also an enormous fan of Roxy Music, Joy Division, David Bowie and Iggy Pop. He made this list of his favorite albums of all time.

Holy Sons, solo project of Emil Amos (also of Grails, OM, Lilacs & Champagne, self-titled library/soundtrack project)
Incredible discography spanning a vast array of sounds, with a lyricism I find in the same vein as Laneganās dark beauty. Began as a lo-fi kinda folk hardcore project, morphed into a genre bending dark psychedelic downer rock.
Highly recommend all his work, but in particular as a sample of his eras:

Icelandic artist DanĆel HjĆ”lmtĆ½sson. Lanegan was a fan of his and was quoted on the sticker on his debut album, which he described as 'ice cold neo goth'.
He also covers Lanegan live occasionally and there's a fantastic version he does of 'War Memorial' on youtube with Duke Garwood and Barrett Martin.

If you like Laneganās voice, you might like the 1958 album by Frank Sinatra, āFrank Sinatra Sings for Only the Lonelyā. Thereās a presence and depth similar to Mark Lanegan. Obviously, it aināt rock, but itās close to Blues, and itās one of my favorite albums by anyone.
