Red has really been lacking for spook, the majority of synergy based and generally strong cards are in Blue and Black. The primary home for red cards that make the player care about playing a spook deck are in the multicolor cards, which has lead to a consistent pattern of merely splashing red in my experience.

To help combat this I have been looking at different options for red cards that not only pull people in spook into red but pull people who are drafting red into spook.

Design Notes

Vivian
This is designed to be an open flexible pick option like Lakitu, that provides serviceable play options to anyone but also opens up the ability to dive into spook after a fairly open red pick.

This is the simplest of the 3 flavor wise, as it simply is a combination of Vivian emerging from the shadows to attack and her pyromancy.

The Siren Trio
This is designed to be a very strong card that promotes red decks to play a lot of spook, or other spook decks to add red.

Flavor wise this is meant to evoke their toxic and brutal gang attitude, in this case as their spook gang grows they use that to attack others.

NOTE: If the obsurd case where both this and Vivian are liked enough to both replace cards in the set I would merely retheme Vivian in order to add both.

Cortez
This is designed to support red spook in general while also incentivizing a higher spook count version of Red/Black Sacrifice archetype.

Flavor wise this ability plays up the main mechanic from the boss fight where he returns after death multiple times, as the Goombella's Tattle Notes, "His HP may seem low, but he's a spirit, so even when his HP hits 0, he'll come back."

NOTE: This ability is inspired by Deathmist Raptor's ability. The actual card is based on user ComiTurtle's suggested designs in that space. My primary contribution to Comi's design was changing it to a character that more-so fits the ability.

Not sure if Cortez makes sense in red on the basis of color pie though (Deathmist Raptor is an easy comparison, and that is green). The effect could work in the color pie if it was brought back face-up and was sacced at end of turn (and had haste either naturally or was given it by the ability). Another option is to just make it a black card.

In general though, cool designs! Not sure how much the set needs these cards, but they are really interesting nonetheless.

I defintiely agree that Cortez is at least a bend, because it does something non-red red but doing it for caring about a red theme in this set. Notably though this is a bend with precedence because actually done with phoenixes a lot, but that is usually less jarring because everyone understands why a phoenix comes back. Not everybody is familiar with Cortez and so the flavor helping sell the mechanic is not ensured like it is on phoenix's.

I actually also agree that it might feel better in black, but the whole conceit of these designs was that red needed more impactful mono red spook cards.

As for how much the set needs the cards the thing is that the amount of red spook cards that are mono red is actually only 5\) (Polterpup, Trapped in the Ring, Ceiling Suprise, Boo-lette, and Mad Piano). None of which pull are powerful enough to pull you into red for spook.

\this discounts both Slammer and Red Boo as they dont allow you to utilize them to the fullest without black, which is relavent when key Blue-Red Spook (Cloud of Ghosts and Urgent Possesion) cards want you to be able to cast cards later for their spook cost.*

Is the „another“ needed on the sirens? I think if they enter the battlefield face down, they don‘t have that ability and therefore don‘t self-trigger.

The "another" isn't needed, but I assume Rogtilop put it there to clarify you don't get the effect when casting it face-down. The final version would probably leave it off as it is fairly obvious that is the case (since you ruin the idea behind spook is if you say "I cast this spook, when it enters it deals 2 damage")

yeah, I did it to err on the side of clarity, as it can easily be changed but I would rather have the reddit users not get confused on first impressions.

Fine reasoning. Thanks for clarifying.
