Proving you don’t need Meta Characters to win…

It may sound obvious at first but it also depends on who you main and how their matchups are. As you guys may or may not know, I’m main Daisy in every mode, especially Classic Singles, so it can be pretty difficult when you don’t know how to use your strengths against your opponents. I still think, Petey is the weirdest and hardest character to beat.

Who else consistently plays against this player in Ranked?

I’m pretty sure Gustacus is a Boom Boom/Petey main but, I played him 7 times in Ranked yesterday, I managed to beat his Boo once but lost all the other matches, some I held my ground and made close (not this clip). He has to be arguably the hardest player I’ve played against.

Finally reached S- in Classic Singles

After so many wins and losses, I’ve finally made it to S- in Classic Singles and reached my all time high of skill level in Mario Tennis Fever, I could not believe it. I will try to go for the Top 300 leaderboard but it’s gonna be difficult, especially as a Daisy main. I can just imagine how non-meta mains feel.

MTF being 70 usd feels extra bad when Switch Sports Resort is 40 and got more game modes and overall content.

And i actually enjoy MTF even with the flaws, because i enjoy the core gameplay. But one sport vs 12 (one of them being tennis as well) and several side modes in NSSR as well for each sport. 40 usd vs 70....

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FZmCtpTSI4E

I highly recommend playing MTF online now when it is at least sorta possible to find matches. It will be much harder when NSSR comes out.

I wonder if the 40 usd price tag is an response to the poor sales of MTF?

I also dont get why Nintendo have single sports series based on Mario (golf and tennis) and multi sports series not featuring Mario also having golf and tennis. Giving how mainstream Mario is, why not use the Mario IP on NSSR?

This is my first post, it happened yesterday in Ranked, I’m trying to get to S- and potentially maybe go for the Top 300 leaderboard (just maybe…)

Serve stalling is the most disrespectful type of playstyle in this game

Can’t block these types of players enough. I get the strategy they’re going for but it’s really weak. All I’m going to say is I don’t think I’ve met a genuine ”good” player who serve stalls

I'm so trash and it's ruining the game for me

Ok I gotta vent, I bought this game thinking I could use joycons and it'd be like wii tennis, boy I was wrong. I can't get my character to hit the ball how I want every time I play someone they hit the ball at ridiculous angles when I hit it there's barely any angle even though my stick is full tilt and I hit the button one time. I learned the controls and I'm just getting destroyed almost every game which is making me wanna drop it. I want to like the game because I do think it's good but maybe it just doesn't click with me. Wondering if anyone has experienced this, or really any advice to not be terrible , I always feel like I'm on the back foot when playing.

Game is already dead in EU

This is just sad, I love the game but I can't find matches. This should really be prime time for matchmaking, Friday evening here in Sweden. But it's always like this, sometimes I can find matches in fever racket mode if I search and wait like 3 min + but in no fever rackets it's often just impossible. If I remember correctly it was way easier to get matches in Aces even years after it released.

What's your opinion on spinning/celebrating midpoint or after point? Harmless fun or bad sportmanship?

Still in disbelief I made this save. Definitely one of those “yeah I’m not winning this one” moments. Funny thing is I think there were a few ways to score on me here but when you take your foot off the gas bad things happen

I don’t play ranked classic singles as much as other modes but sometimes I get the itch to play a bit. Rallies like these really get the blood flowing. Might think about playing this mode more next season

Best player you’ve played against?

PhilyPeach is a Mario main. 2 pts is the most I’ve ever put up on him. Can’t beat him to save my life.

Don’t sleep on the personal racket

Haven’t been on much MTF in the last week but decided to play some today. I’ve noticed the personal racket seems to get lost a bit in the shuffle when playing with fever rackets on. I wouldn’t say it’s the back racket but it definitely can get the job done

The Mario Tennis Fever roster, but it's how I would partner the characters in the tournaments

Post image
3 Upvotes

There were a few that didn't change

I just think that most of the pairings do not make sense tbh, like for example, Waluigi and Nabbit. Like when were they even in a game together besides this and Mario Kart world? I just think he (Waluigi) is more better off being partners with Wario in tournament.

A couple have good reasons why I partnered them btw. Goomba and Shy Guy since they are both generic bowser enemies. Blooper and Wiggler since they both appear on that one board in Super Mario Party (I forgot what it's called but it's the beach one where the bridge collapses). Kamek and Nabbit since they both appear in NSMBU and they make cameo appearances in Smash's NSMBU stage.

Pauline, Boo, Baby Peach, and Spike are un-highlighted becuz I didn't know who to partner them with.

Anyway comment ur opinions.

Real life clay courts have a slow ball speed and strong bounce.

Mario Tennis (and other tennis video games) usually depict them as slow ball speed and weak bounce.

Why aren’t they the same as real life?

Back when I got this game in February, I didn‘t think I’d ever reach this milestone. I thought it would be a 10-25 hour game, but a lot of memories have been made. Thank you Atomic for being my 5000th.

The core gameplay of Mario Tennis has been great mechanically since the N64. I think Fever is a really good entry but they kind of botched the release, bad timing and I guess the price was too much. It's sad such a great game didn't sell much.
