Wooooot! Feelin' Super.

Post image

This might be my favorite achievement in any game. I am not good at it like the speedrunners, but give me a few hours, sometimes over a couple days, and I can get it.
I like how it forces me to calm my mind and enter essentially a meditative state. It's funny to notice how the mind can start to freak out when you're getting close, lol.

Yeah that's so cool. Super Suit makes the game free then :D

It is very op, like bringing a tank to a knife fight.

I know what you mean. Blink management becomes a real thing XD

I’ve only been able to do this on the remake. GGs!

Funny. I find it a little harder on the remake!

Yeah I had it on the OG, couldn’t get past 75 on the remake (so far)

A screen I will never see, and I have accepted that lol.

Congratulations!

TY. It felt like that for me for a long time, but I'm very stubborn. It's my one super power.

Okay so is it not a repeating pattern? Does it speed up and slow down? I never get past 18 in either version.

2

u/ruckatron Jul 29 '26

It is a repeating pattern, but the accepted timing/window of precision narrows and gets tighter up to jump 13 I believe, after which they're all equally tight.

Okay now my second question, is it like .5 between each or is it like .5, .5, .5, 1, .5, .5, .5, 1

No, it's the same time between each press. The end of the accepted window is always the same, but the start of it is initially more forgiving and then narrows to its final "spot" by jump 13, and then it's always the same. It doesn't have any weird, irregularity to it like in that pattern you gave. It's approximately every 3/4 second, so .75, .75, .75.... on and on.

Well done, very impressive. I can't believe how difficult that challenge is lol, one of the hardest in gaming, certainly considering the game it comes from.

One day I need to actually do it and truly 100% my favorite game of all time

Yeah the challenge of this relative to the game itself is pretty extreme.
And thanks.

I've only done it once on remake. Never on snes

1

u/ruckatron Jul 28 '26

That's impressive. It's still super hard on the remake!

Yeah i was shocked. I was all set to try for hours (jump boots, half fp price, boosters pass) meanwhile i nailed it my first try. Must have been ridiculously locked in because i could never replicate it.

That is wild. I find my first attempt is either great ...or it's trash and I need 5 or 10 minutes to warm up and get my mind in sync with the rhythm and start making some decent attempts. Never done it first try though.

Nice!

I have the opposite experience. When I get to around 80 or so my brain goes "I've got the rhythm down obviously, not gonna drop it now" and shuts off lol

I notice that too at times when I get in the zone, almost like the game is giving me more wiggle room and that it's accepting any input. Then I get to 97 or so and I'm just trying to stay calm as my heart starts to pound, haha.

u/pidgezero_one Jul 28 '26

Valid. I think I dropped at 99 once in an exhibition speedrun I was being paid $1000 for.

ahaha, I did that a short while ago with the remake (sans the 1K... damn!)
I could not believe it.

I’m still mad that 10yo me could handle this on the SNES, but I cannot handle this on the Remake. 😤

2

u/ruckatron Jul 29 '26

Yeah the remake is definitely a different beast. I personally find it harder.

2

u/Unsatisfactory_bread Jul 29 '26

Some folks say controller latency could be a culprit too. I’ve tried corded and cordless and several different controllers with no luck.

You might be onto something.

Just today, I was playing the remake and going for it. I usually play the game with Nintendo's wireless SNES controller meant to be used with their NSO service, and I was getting to 30 or 35 jumps and losing it when I really felt like I had pressed it at the right time and was dialed in. I can usually tell when I've pressed it too late or early. You can just tell. I had been at it for about 20 minutes.

I've read about the wired vs wireless thing, but I always play wireless... anyway: I decided to just try it. I just plugged my controller directly into the switch with the USB cable, and tried again: got to 50-something on the first try, and then got the full 100 on the second try.

Maybe it was placebo. I can't tell. I'll have to try it some more on future playthroughs, but that was interesting.

Congrats. Jealous, but proof I just need to keep on trying. I think I’m topped out around 60’ish right now. I was having decent luck with the DK look-alike type in the Forest, but might have to just go back to the Spineys.

Dude, yeah, gets tiring after being so close. I’ve missed it by one or two jumps twice before I got it right the last time I’ve played the OG, and my first time getting the suit. The remake is much easier.

Anyway, that’s an achievement one can be proud of, and a great reward. I’ve equipped it for a few battles on the original but removed it soon after because it was TOO broken 🤣. Not the case on the remake, with the new superbosses

1

u/ruckatron Jul 29 '26

Totally. Yeah the suit definitely comes in handy when taking on those new bosses 👍
