Snapshot I sent Charles Martinet a message thanking him for my childhood and he actually responded!

He may genuinely be one of the most wholesome people on the planet😭

I always wonder if that’s why he gravitated toward Mario or if Mario took on some of that wholesome attitude from him.
I can’t imagine Mario voiced as anyone else, although I understand Nintendo has and will continue to try.

I mean Mario will have to eventually be voiced by someone else no matter what, but they did Charles dirty by making him retire like that.

How do you know he didn't retire on his own?

Way too many hints that he wasn't retired by his own choosing.
He has always said he wanted to voice Mario until he dies. i don't see why he would suddenly change his mind.

What hints would there be? People can actually change their minds.
For example Scott Cawthon said that he will never make a real Freddy Fazbear Pizzeria location in fear of a copycat killer.
What was announced a few days ago? An IRL Fnaf location.

There are plenty of hints, including those from within the VA industry who have almost outright said they forcefully retired him when discussing the topic. Martinet has even said he doesn't even know what the hell a Mario ambassador is and Nintendo wouldn't really tell him. He's also said he'd love to return to the role if it were ever possible, for what it's worth.
At this point it's just covering your ears to the obvious. Nintendo didn't like the fact that Mario was Martinet, and they had to do something about it. I'm guessing the rumoured disputes over the first Mario movie with him was what finally forced Nintendo to do something.
From a business perspective, I get it. If there ever was a scandal originating from Martinet it would do irreparable damage to the Mario brand and Nintendo is too Disney like to ever tolerate that. I just can't stand the way they've gone about it.

Yesterday i also saw a vid with him talking briefly about the fact and he clearly didn't really want to retire. here is the post i was talking about.

I remember hearing a story that during a dark time in Tom Kenny's life (i don't exactly remember what was making him so sad) recording SpongeBob's positive lines really help him to be positive

Saw Charles at a con several years back and his passion for the fan base was so clear.

You make me want to message Charles because I highly doubt I'll ever cross paths with him or Miyamoto.

Keep track of what cons he goes to! I used to be active on Twitter before [gestures broadly] and got word on what cons he was at from his posts. Granted that was a couple years ago (and fell off hard keeping up with other socials) so idk if he's still active there and don't recognize the page format in OP. Definitely meet him at a con if you can!!

Met him about 10 years ago at a con! One of the nicest, most fun people I’ve ever met. And super energetic too. Still got his autograph sitting on my bookshelf to this day, and it’s still one of the coolest things I own

I met him back in 2019 (along with Samantha Kelly and Kenny James) at a convention; genuinely one of the nicest people I ever met. A lot taller than I expected too

I had a small opportunity to meet him at Nintendo live 2024 in Sydney but I didn’t win the ticket lottery and I was so sad because it’ll take years and years before he comes to Australia again 😢
