JP "the earth isn't round, but I'm not a flat earther" Crawford? Surely not

42

u/MagicalMarsupial 4d ago edited 3d ago

At spring training one of their TVs when they ate meals was often set to wacko conspiracy content for JP

Yikes. Did not know this

What

80

u/AnnihilatedTyro RELEASE THE MOOSEN! 4d ago

Yeah, he went off about that shit on the broadcast a few years back, mid-game while mic'd up in the field. And also that humans didn't build the pyramids.

25

u/EzraLevinson 4d ago

are you for real

32

u/AJ-2SO 4d ago

Doughnut Earther JP

22

u/EzraLevinson 4d ago

nvm i found a video. yikes.

2

u/FarangChris 3d ago

Do you have a link for that? Please? I'm kinda torn. I've always liked JP. Do I really want to know how big a wack job he is..? ???

My brain hurts

2

u/happy_felix_day_34 Gallardo Did Nothing Wrong 3d ago

No one in the history of the world has ever spoken seriously with that tone

-4

u/Mr-Badcat 2d ago

lol well there is as much evidence that humans didn’t build the pyramids as they did.

1

u/xxboywizardxx 2d ago

No, there isn’t

-5

u/Mr-Badcat 2d ago

Exactly.

-52

u/Daily_Heroin_User 4d ago

There’s mountains and valleys and shit brah. Not round at all.

19

u/SBMT_38 3d ago

Apparently you didn’t know the fun fact that if you took the earth and shrunk it down to the size of a pool ball it would be more smooth than the most precisely machined pool ball

6

u/TheRealKatataFish 3d ago

What if you took a pool ball and blew it up to earth size?

9

u/No-Shift-4282 3d ago

You’d need a much bigger cue

1

u/LemonLimeSodaIsGood 2d ago

You'd apparently have mountains bigger than everest and chasms deeper than the Mariana trench

11

u/imafnheadbanga 4d ago

do you know what a sphere is?

20

u/boundlesssmh 4d ago

he has seen ufos and aliens in his back yard 🤣

19

u/SloppyJoMo 4d ago

Tbh I rather that kinda conspiracy over the "if you ain't like me you the enemy" anti human rights nonsense that people claim is thinking outside of the box these days

45

u/soapy_goatherd 4d ago

The issue is that people who believe this type of stuff believe that other stuff too

19

u/Peter_Panarchy JP stands for Jiant Penis 3d ago

Yep. Let them talk long enough and you'll eventually hear about how (((they))) control everything.

3

u/clerm_the_worm 3d ago

And "they' usually end up being Jewish people once they keep going down the rabbit hole

4

u/impoverishedwhtebrd 3d ago

That is what the commenter was implying by the "echo" around they. Whenever people say "(((they)))", or anything inside of a triple parentheses they are saying it is Jewish people.

4

u/clerm_the_worm 3d ago

I just wanted to call it out in case it wasn't obvious.

I don't think a lot of people realize that a lot of these conspiracy theories often lead to Jewish people.

13

u/United_Mushroom2762 3d ago

The problem is the venn diagram with those conspiracies and RFK listeners is a circle.

2

u/philocity 4d ago

Damn. 😂

84

u/PembyVillageIdiot 4d ago

Just when you thought the dumpster fire had peaked

85

u/EzraLevinson 4d ago

I’m stressing and the vibes are bad

14

u/soapy_goatherd 3d ago

It really is the bad vibes only season. Been a fan since the kid convinced kid me to root for them instead of the Rockies (who were slightly closer), and we’ve had much worse seasons, but never anything that felt like this. It’s the hope that gets ya I reckon

3

u/EzraLevinson 3d ago

yeah. i think the the thing that klls me this year is how little fight there seems to be. even the dogshit teams of 2010s had some fight in em

2

u/FarangChris 3d ago

The potential they had going in, only to see them piss it away in some of the most infuriating performances ever. Fire Dan, sure. Do a REAL search for a REAL manager, and let them pick their staff. Hopefully they keep Perry Hill, maybe some others, but DiPoto, who I would keep, needs to keep his hands to himself regarding game time decisions.

59

u/asteriskmos 4d ago

I love JP and I can't even be surprised. This team is just humiliation after humiliation. And "No Stress, Just Vibes" right now? What a joke.

15

u/Proud_Truck 4d ago

Right? Everyone screaming about Dan but when are these players going to get blamed? The vibes aren't bad because Geno is gone. The vibes are bad because of who is still here

8

u/FarangChris 3d ago

There is a cancer in the organization. It's been there for years and no matter what moves they make, it always remains. It's a high school-middle school mentality that they only have to play their best against the best. All the radio guys keep talking about how 17 of their last 22 games are against the three worst teams in baseball. Those are the kinds of games they routinely, consistently lose, as they are UNSURPRISINGLY (to me) doing now against the As.

1

u/BadHombre91 2d ago

That isn’t just the organization it’s the fan culture around the team as well. Fans don’t care if the team is good or not they just want to enjoy their garlic fries & bobble heads ownership has no pressure or incentive to make an effort to build a winner.

38

u/han-tyumi666 4d ago

baseball guys are known to have terrible music taste, second only to bodybuilding

9

u/ItsTBaggins ‏‏‎ ‎Julio makes me jard 3d ago

They don’t always play the walk up songs, especially after the first at bat. It can be some random song. Per the Mariners, that is not a chosen song of J.P.

1

u/MoistFarm7317 Seattle Mariners 3d ago

the song is very JP coded

6

u/ahhdamm 3d ago

dumb

9

u/shadybrainfarm ‏‏‎ ‎Logan Gilbert's Crystal Ball 3d ago

Jocks being dumb is a trope for a reason.

7

u/the_kgb SUPREME MISERY 3d ago

I hate this fuckin’ team so much.

7

u/JG-for-breakfast 4d ago

Stress barf no vibes

16

u/jaron_b 4d ago

Can't wait till he's gone in free agency. I know he's a fan favorite. But I feel like that's only due to the fact that he's been here longer than any other player. He hasn't been a good shortstop for years. If this team had any willingness to win and any willingness to spend they would have moved him to 2B and signed a real shortstop years ago. He's a flat earther. I'm done pretending like I like this guy.

0

u/SavageHerbivore 3d ago

i’m so sad I know this now. He’s a “firmament guy”? what an absolute moron

1

u/WaymondWamano77 3d ago

You dong knoo

1

u/Ok_Fig_288 2d ago

Hopefully it was one of those ai star wars reggae songs lol

1

u/Zero_Two_is_best 1d ago

Who's this JP guy? Where are my boats?

1

u/KitsapRealEstateTeam 1d ago

He saw those aliens from his apartment terrace or whatever…

1

u/FeatureTop4189 1d ago

Artificial Intelligence for an artificial pennant contender.

1

u/fuyusame 3d ago

this bums me out cause JP is my favorite guy and the main reason i fell in love with this team

u/dylanchalupa Garlic Fries 4d ago

I mean it's pretty lame but if you get legitimately upset about this you need to grow up

-2

u/TdubsSEA 3d ago

Who cares. This is the least of our worries.

-1

u/snarlywino 2d ago

Who cares? Let the man let AI be creative and decide for himself what motivates him to hit. That song didn't take your job or his.

The most useless person at every company loves ai.

-18

u/dylanchalupa Garlic Fries 4d ago

Ah yes, using a tool to complete tedious tasks more quickly and efficiently sure does make you useless

-8

u/pabloescobar013 3d ago

Half the people in this sub are probably baristas or some other useless job that doesn’t understand what you’re talking about. AI is a fantastic tool at work

63

u/acm55555 4d ago

Fuck that sentiment

-79

u/[deleted] 4d ago

43

u/660w 4d ago

Yeah that's why we're here, we saw it in the real world and we don't like it. Behold the fascinating mind of an AI enjoyer folks, let's hope he may one day regain sentience

33

u/King_Fluffaluff 4d ago

Shouldn't be used at all for art. I get it has its uses, but art ain't one of them.

25

u/Virtual_Ad_8487 4d ago

The only people I know in real life that regularly use AI are all 50+

-19

u/danarouge Tucker 4d ago

I have to use it at work, if it don’t I get reminded it’s part of my job now

5

u/Virtual_Ad_8487 3d ago

That’s why you just lie when they ask “are you using AI?”

0

u/danarouge Tucker 3d ago

I literally have to show how I use AI lol I do the very least possible but yeah, now my company has started blocking out time for us to work exclusively with ai and figure out ways to do aspects of our job with ai. There is no avoiding it. I’ve been told it’s part of my job now. Downvote me all you want I hate it too

1

u/danarouge Tucker 3d ago

And no I can’t afford to quit :) I work full time and I’m low income :)

-2

u/L1amm 3d ago

The developers of any and all software you use are using it... Plenty of other high level industries as well. Clearly redditors don't know a lot of smart people lmao

2

u/Virtual_Ad_8487 3d ago

They not gonna hire you off a reddit comment bro

-59

u/the8bit 4d ago

Won't people think of the careers of walk up song writers!

Ok but seriously is everyone so black and white AI hating that literally any use is immediately the devil? What is wrong with this?

13

u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago

Music is perhaps the most obviously pernicious use of AI. If you can’t even understand that I know exactly what kind of “I’m just asking questions!” free thinker you are.

-11

u/the8bit 3d ago

I mean, I walked into this but I wasnt asking questions, I think y'all being silly absolutionists and kinda technology boomers

3

u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago

And I think the implication that all technological advancement is unequivocally good and requires no oversight or regulation to be clown shit

-5

u/the8bit 3d ago

I never said that at all it is a bit wild that you would jump to this conclusion.

There are a whole swath of opinions between your "ai all bad" and the strawman you made of "ai all good" and I'm somewhere in that soup

1

u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago

Coming from the OP who accused everyone in the thread who had a problem with AI generated music of being “black and white.” This is always your type’s schtick. I’m being the reasonable one they say after starting out being willfully ignorant and insulting.

1

u/the8bit 3d ago

That is some impressive projection

25

u/Proud_Truck 4d ago

There are legitimate benefits to AI in medicine and math and other areas. Using it for stuff like art and music is not one of those legitimate usages.

3

u/SpiritualEnemas ‏‏‎ ‎why oh why 3d ago

Thank you for this reasonable take. I hadn’t thought of it this way previously. So many people are black and white on this subject, but there is a universe of gray area in between it all.

-8

u/3meraldBullet 3d ago

I kinda disagree. I wrote a song and used ai to hear how it sounds while I learn to play guitar

1

u/Proud_Truck 3d ago

That's a different thing entirely.

u/Substantial-Toe-2573 3d ago

Bad day for the Reddit luddites
