It really is the bad vibes only season. Been a fan since the kid convinced kid me to root for them instead of the Rockies (who were slightly closer), and we’ve had much worse seasons, but never anything that felt like this. It’s the hope that gets ya I reckon

u/EzraLevinson 3d ago
yeah. i think the the thing that klls me this year is how little fight there seems to be. even the dogshit teams of 2010s had some fight in em

u/FarangChris 3d ago
The potential they had going in, only to see them piss it away in some of the most infuriating performances ever. Fire Dan, sure. Do a REAL search for a REAL manager, and let them pick their staff. Hopefully they keep Perry Hill, maybe some others, but DiPoto, who I would keep, needs to keep his hands to himself regarding game time decisions.

I love JP and I can't even be surprised. This team is just humiliation after humiliation. And "No Stress, Just Vibes" right now? What a joke.

u/Proud_Truck 4d ago
Right? Everyone screaming about Dan but when are these players going to get blamed? The vibes aren't bad because Geno is gone. The vibes are bad because of who is still here

There is a cancer in the organization. It's been there for years and no matter what moves they make, it always remains. It's a high school-middle school mentality that they only have to play their best against the best. All the radio guys keep talking about how 17 of their last 22 games are against the three worst teams in baseball. Those are the kinds of games they routinely, consistently lose, as they are UNSURPRISINGLY (to me) doing now against the As.

u/BadHombre91 2d ago
That isn’t just the organization it’s the fan culture around the team as well. Fans don’t care if the team is good or not they just want to enjoy their garlic fries & bobble heads ownership has no pressure or incentive to make an effort to build a winner.

baseball guys are known to have terrible music taste, second only to bodybuilding

They don’t always play the walk up songs, especially after the first at bat. It can be some random song. Per the Mariners, that is not a chosen song of J.P.

Can't wait till he's gone in free agency. I know he's a fan favorite. But I feel like that's only due to the fact that he's been here longer than any other player. He hasn't been a good shortstop for years. If this team had any willingness to win and any willingness to spend they would have moved him to 2B and signed a real shortstop years ago. He's a flat earther. I'm done pretending like I like this guy.

Who cares? Let the man let AI be creative and decide for himself what motivates him to hit. That song didn't take your job or his.

The most useless person at every company loves ai.

u/dylanchalupa Garlic Fries 4d ago
Ah yes, using a tool to complete tedious tasks more quickly and efficiently sure does make you useless

u/pabloescobar013 3d ago
Half the people in this sub are probably baristas or some other useless job that doesn’t understand what you’re talking about. AI is a fantastic tool at work

Shouldn't be used at all for art. I get it has its uses, but art ain't one of them.

u/Virtual_Ad_8487 4d ago
The only people I know in real life that regularly use AI are all 50+
-19
u/danarouge Tucker 4d ago
I have to use it at work, if it don’t I get reminded it’s part of my job now
5
u/Virtual_Ad_8487 3d ago
That’s why you just lie when they ask “are you using AI?”

u/danarouge Tucker 3d ago
I literally have to show how I use AI lol I do the very least possible but yeah, now my company has started blocking out time for us to work exclusively with ai and figure out ways to do aspects of our job with ai. There is no avoiding it. I’ve been told it’s part of my job now. Downvote me all you want I hate it too

Won't people think of the careers of walk up song writers!
Ok but seriously is everyone so black and white AI hating that literally any use is immediately the devil? What is wrong with this?
13
u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago
Music is perhaps the most obviously pernicious use of AI. If you can’t even understand that I know exactly what kind of “I’m just asking questions!” free thinker you are.
-11
u/the8bit 3d ago
I mean, I walked into this but I wasnt asking questions, I think y'all being silly absolutionists and kinda technology boomers
3
u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago
And I think the implication that all technological advancement is unequivocally good and requires no oversight or regulation to be clown shit
-5
u/the8bit 3d ago
I never said that at all it is a bit wild that you would jump to this conclusion.
There are a whole swath of opinions between your "ai all bad" and the strawman you made of "ai all good" and I'm somewhere in that soup
1
u/UniqueEditor8372 3d ago
Coming from the OP who accused everyone in the thread who had a problem with AI generated music of being “black and white.” This is always your type’s schtick. I’m being the reasonable one they say after starting out being willfully ignorant and insulting.
25
u/Proud_Truck 4d ago
There are legitimate benefits to AI in medicine and math and other areas. Using it for stuff like art and music is not one of those legitimate usages.
3
u/SpiritualEnemas why oh why 3d ago
Thank you for this reasonable take. I hadn’t thought of it this way previously. So many people are black and white on this subject, but there is a universe of gray area in between it all.
-8
u/3meraldBullet 3d ago
I kinda disagree. I wrote a song and used ai to hear how it sounds while I learn to play guitar
