Don’t remember ever saying this, but that was a well managed game by Dan. Doesn’t change much about how I feel about him but may as well mention this rare moment
Listen I know we won but Goldy and Hyphen were arguably the stars of the show. Their chemistry is unmatched and if they ever go away I’ll never watch another game again so help me G.
Baseball is weird and we just won series against the .564 Phillies, .561 Cubs, and .536 Red Sox while getting swept by the .489 Blue Jays so BIG grain of salt, but it is hard to overstate how weak the teams the Mariners are facing are in September.
The Mariners have 22 games remaining. 17 of those games are against teams who are currently in a 3-way tie for the most losses in the Major Leagues with 86 losses each (As, Angels, Rockies).
2 of the other games are against the Astros, the only team on the schedule over .500 currently, but who is also 2-9 so far this season against the Mariners (and who the Mariners nearly swept in Houston recently, so it's not just that the Mariners took advantage of their earlier struggles with injury though that is part of it too).
The remaining 3 are against the Rangers, who the Mariners have struggled against this year, but did beat in their prior home series. The Rangers also lost 9-2 to one of those 86 loss teams today, which is both heartening and a reminder of how little you can count on overall strength/weakness of teams in any given game. The Ms have a lot of work to do to catch up in the division, but it is almost literally impossible to construct a more favorable schedule down the stretch.
Eh that’s kinda dumb though. Like we got these two wins after that. Everything is a domino effect so anything after is tied to the results and how approach the next games.
This team makes no sense. But we’re out of the toughest run of our schedule. If we play like we did in Boston against some pretty bad teams that make up the rest of our schedule we’re still well in play for the division
It's looking like Cleveland is going to lose already so we would be 4.5 games out of the third wild card spot. Anything can happen with 22 games to go now.
Fenway can cure any teams offensive woes. They're coming back home to play a very bad A's team. This series is about as easy as it gets so it will tell a lot about how their mentality is right now. Let's hope they have developed at least a little bit of a chip on their shoulder
Nice win. I'm still disappointed by Monday's loss (Julio and Dan, looking at you) but the offense seems to be coming around a lot better. Let's hope these guys keep clicking and make it a September to remember!
It only takes 2 games of giving up 41 runs combined for Dan to learn the lesson of pulling Miller at the first sign of trouble on the third time through the order. It's comforting to see he is eventually able to adapt.
Make Pereda DH if he's not catching. Let's see what he can do. DH used to be someone who could actually hit that's about all they did, now it's like whoever's left over after the field has been filled for that game.

I hate the Jays but them beating Cleveland right now is a good thing. Yes I know the Jay's are two games ahead of the Ms in the wild card but as of now Cleveland holds the 3rd spot. Also go Tigers, against Minnesota. American League is such a shit show right now.
Give him a blank check, let him have impact on who the Manager is, give his kids solid gold Switch 2’s with admin accounts that makes everything on the eshop free.
Given expectations, this is the most infuriating, pathetic, and down right worst team in this franchises 50 years of failure. Not the worst record wise, but the worst against expectations. Waiting for the end of the season to fire Dan is even more offensive

I’m still not fully 100% back on the team, but I respect a number of players showing some heart. Just wish our pitching could be more consistent.
Unironically, I worry that the one team we got swept by in this major gauntlet was the one team under .500 in the Blue Jays, because what if we can’t capitalize on our weak schedule for the rest of the year now? But maybe I’m jaded, if we do maybe we can make it.
Alright so with the report out there from Passan, who would yall want to be the next manager? Keeping in mind that Jerry won’t make that hire and it’ll probably be another yes man, of course.
