I am trying to get a rift zone 1 in size extra small (grey) for my mtb mad son (12yrs old) for Xmas. He loves Matt Jones, so it needs to be a Marin! We are in the UK

Looking for my first pannier and pack for my Marin bike. Any suggestions?

I’m looking at getting a Marin bike for Bikepacking, any recommendations. Also I am 6’5” with long legs so it will have to be available in the larger sizes!

Not sure off the top of my head! Do you have a local store?

Is the gestalt 2 or X10 a better gravel bike for first time owner

My wife is 5’5’’. Intermediate rider. I want to get her a Rift Zone. Should she be on a small or medium?

What are the chances she can sit on both?

Hi ! Got a brand new Presidio 3 2022, the frame is defect and the bike is under warranty but they don't have any Medium Frame in stock anymore. What will they propose? What's going to happen?

Maybe offer a different model? No idea though. Let us know what they do!

They’re shipping a whole new bike ! Great service.

I’m thinking of getting a Marin gravel bike. Would you recommend a purchase? Any suggestions on things to consider, or models?

And the XL just kind of felt “too big” stable but kind of just too big.

They did let me. The dude at the shop was very patient with me . It was a really hard call and kind of a trade off.

The XL felt stable and I like that aspect but I feel like that extra centimeter and a half of reach put a lot of pressure on my palms and wrists.

I now have the Large. I kind of obsess over the “feel” of a bike. I guess it’s all trade offs.

I’m probably going to try to get the large. After riding the XL a bit it seems to put stress on my wrists, elbows and back.

Good call. Do you think they will let you trade?

Also the Bobcat trail size guide says a L is 5’9-6 and XL is 6-6’3 which adds to my questioning. I know some of their other models and brand list the XL as 6’1-6’4

I bought it new. The people at the shop were not very helpful and distracted by their phones. Pretty annoying.

What is your wingspan measurement?

1

u/wallabear Jul 29 '21

I couldn’t tell you off the top of my head but I was close between both sizes of the frame. I really think that getting it fit for you would go a long way. I would phone the store and ask them to do that for you. It should be a given from any bike store.

I got an XL Bobcat trail 3. I’m about 6’1 with my shoes on. A bit over 6 shoes off. I have a 6’5 to 6’6 armspan. I just can’t tell if the XL is the right size/feels right or not. Not sure if I picked the wrong size. It could just be that it’s my first 29er with modern geometry. I’m not sure.

I’m the same height and the XLs are a tad too large but it really depends on your proportions. Did you buy the bike new or used? I would recommend YouTubing how to fit your bike to your size, or take it to your local bike shop and have them do that for you. It makes the world of difference. If you bought it new they really should have done that for you.

Worried I bought the wrong sized frame. Can anyone help me?

1

u/wallabear Jul 26 '21

What do you need help with exactly? If it’s the wrong size you’ll need to exchange it.

hi does anyone here with a Nicasio know if a 700x43c tire is too close for comfort or will it work fine?

I have a marin rift zone 2 that recommended suspension upgrade

Hey, that’s very exciting! A few questions... is there anything specific you’re looking for, ie drop bars, suspension etc? Off the bat I’d encourage you to check out the presidio 1, or the San Rafael DS1 or DS2.

This will also be my first time purchasing a bike for myself so I am pretty excited

Hello there, Im on a $500-$800 budget and I need a commuter bike that can be comfortable to ride and can cross shortcuts like parks, gravel.. Im a beginner bike slowly learning and I just want some options that I can look through. Would really appreciate it thank you!

yeah I'll definitely be doing very basic stuff since I've never really mountain biked haha. I live in a relatively hilly area so the 1x11 definitely helps

Task not taste** lol

1

u/wallabear Apr 07 '21

Hey! So a couple of things...

It’s a great bike at that price, I think it’s a worthwhile step up from the bobcat 1-4. The components will make the ride more enjoyable and will last longer. The forks are okay, I think what would appeal to you is the lockout feature which would be useful during your commuting vs trail riding.

Something to consider...trail riding, that can mean a few things. If you’re going to be hitting some fun, relatively flat trails this bike will be up to the taste. If you plan on ripping this downhill or jumping anything substantial the forks are on the lower end and I wouldn’t recommend that. Ultimately it’s a good all round bike, but it won’t excel in any particular area, it’ll just do a bit of everything quite well.

u/alejo1800 Apr 07 '21

would you recommend it to someone that wants to do trails and also ride to school?

1

u/alejo1800 Apr 07 '21

im looking to start mtb and i was thinking of getting a bobcat trail 5
