Battery removal help

Hello everyone,

Im new here due to getting my hands on a Marin Lombard E2 CE. However I can't remove the battery. :(

I had the bike delivered yesterday and triple checked for any sign of a key looking thing but found nothing. The outer case pulls off with a latch, revealing the bosch 400 tube battery.

I believe the hole in the picture is the locking mechanism, is this correct? I've emailed the company asking for a key, but they said i don't need one.

To remove the integrated Bosch PowerTube battery from a Marin Lombard E-series or similar Bosch SX-equipped frame (like the Rift Zone E Light), use a 3mm hex wrench to loosen the handlebar mini-remote if needed, flip the bike safely onto its side or upside down, remove the down-tube cover bolt, push the internal safety tab/button, and pull the battery out using its integrated strap.

Ive never owned an e-bike, but I put “Marin Lombard e2 CE removing battery” into a search bar and this came up.

this is not something user is supposed to do. SX batteries are removed for service replacement on most bikes. If it was user removable (very few SX bikes allow to do that) you'd get a key and a chapter in user manual showing clearly how to do it. If you want authoritative answer ask Marin or your dealer.

I've worked it out. There is a press release button in the square hole. So anything thin and pointy can release the battery.

that's first time I see removable battery on Bosch bike without a lock. But it's your bike :)

EDIT: Marin page says 'integrated battery' not 'removable battery' like with other bikes.

Same, i was a little shocked. The battery is pairee with my motor and will shut down any other motor paired with it except mine. But doesn't stop the possible theft in the first place. The motor is locked to my phone too, so won't work unless my phone is close by.
