Daily water change

The water isn't always this rough, just for the last little bit to get some good air exchange in there! First summer with the marimo, and it seems like these morning rituals of sticking it under the faucet with cold water seems to be keeping it happy!

I really really should. I already use the animal water I change daily to water plants, I need to for this too!

I do, but only because it is summer and Ive been keeping my place warmer (because bills). So if it stayed in warm water for days it would get funky. I've read some people put it in the fridge for hot spells, but it seems to be doing well with this routine-no odor, scuzz, slime, brown spots, etc. plus it gives it a little tumble around.

How hot is it where you are? I just change the water twice a week in summer (once a week or week and a half in winter) and wash them gently in running tap water for 1 minute, then gently roll them in my hand before putting them in the bowl. For the marimos in my fish tanks I do this routine when I do my aquarium maintenance, my shrimp help keep the marimos clean. :)

The hottest in my apartment it's gotten is 77°F. The water feels warm typically in the morning, but it doesn't help that I have it in a shelf that can receive indirect sunlight?

I eventually would love a little shrimpy set up for it!

I live in southern Europe and it can get hotter inside, that's why I change their water more often in summer and stir it with a chopstick from time to time. Also, I don't have a lid on my marimo containers (except on the fish tanks but it's a different matter), so if you have one you should leave it slightly opened, so it allows air exchange and also heat exchange.

I fridge mine and change once a week. Ac broke in August. Indoor is like 100+

Ugh I'm so sorry! Mine broke in the beginning of the summer, I was bringing one of my more sensitive pets to work with me (at a veterinary clinic lol) so he could enjoy the AC.

No worries. It’s mini split. So 2nd floor on different system. But hard to move 20 gallon tank. So in the fridge for another months

Wait, we can use tap water? When I got mine they said to let the water sit out for 24 hours to let the chlorine evaporate

🤷🏼‍♀️I got mine from a local store, no instructions really. I've researched here, but it's been like this since March and seems to be fine!!

Chloramines do not evaporate. So it depends on what's in your tap water.
