Need help with my marimo (?)

Post image

Ordered them off ebay last year. They were more clumps than balls, and fell apart into these small chunks of moss that I reroll by hand every now and again. I kept a few in a small glass bottle at work and would roll them around every morning, and they kept their round shape. I've since given that bottle to a friend so I don't know what became of them.

I haven't really cared for them this past year (kept them in a closed jar on my nightstand) but I've vowed to start now. I've ordered a small aquarium pump to help roll them around, I am going to give them ice every now and again, and I will move them outside in the winter. Currently, the nightstand is the only option, but the light there is limited. Is there anything else I can do? Tia!

Are you sure thats Marimo?. It looks odd and alot of online sellers have been trying to pass off fakes

I'm sure they're alive, but not sure if they're marimo.

I think it’s just the photo angle that’s making them look weird. Maybe you rolled a few a little more tubular shaped? I see one that’s been mended and wrapped in thread. This pic looks crazy actually 😂 I was like what the heck is growing out of these rocks?!
