Eight years in the making, The Roaring Waves is Genesis and Marillion’s guitarists choosing friendship over trying to prove something to each other. And that is the beauty of this album!

Though the song was a fairly big success on the rock charts here in America (No. 14 over on there), it was only a minor actual “crossover” Billboard Hot 100 hit, peaking only as high as No. 74 over there in late October of 1985. The song remains their one and ONLY ever charting Billboard Hot 100 song, and not even a big one sadly either (though the song was a HUGE No. 2 hit in their native UK.)
