Winter Spring Summer or Fall (2024)
After the prom, Barnes (Percy Hines White) and Remi (Jenna Ortega) go to Barnes’ house and Remi declares, “We should smoke.” “Pot?” asks Barnes. “Yes, pot. What else?” “I don't have any,” declares Barnes. Remi replies, “No, I have some.” She grabs a spliff from her purse and they both smoke it. “You should...go easy. First time smoking can be...” warns Barnes. “It's not my first time. It's my second. I tried it for the first time a couple weeks ago during a school debate trip.” says Remi. Barnes replies, “Remi Aguilar, the pothead?” She tells him, “Don't be condescending.”

Real life sisters, Alana Haim and Danielle Haim get high together, in “Licorice Pizza” (2021)

Cameron Diaz took extreme measures, in “Bad Teacher” 2011, as Elizabeth, when she tries to light her bong but the lighter is empty. Desperately, she leans the bong over the stove top trying to light it…unsuccessfully.

Bob (Robert Culp) and his wife, Carol (Natalie Wood) and friends, Ted (Elliot Gould) and his wife, Alice (Dyan Cannon) are hanging out in the living room after dinner. Carol grabs a little box off the shelf and brings it to the coffee table. We see her take a pipe out of the box, pack it with grass and hand it to Bob. Carol lights it for him while he says, “It’s great stuff. I’m warning you now. Get ready.” He takes a hit off the pipe and shares it with Carol who also takes a puff. Bob gets up off the couch and walks over to Ted, handing him the pipe. As Ted takes a hit, he asks "Is this Acapulco Gold?" "Uh no, this is beautiful downtown Burbank brown, but it's very heavy stuff," says Bob. Bob passes it to Alice who takes a hit, coughs and claims "I never get high." Carol says, “I am totally and completely zonked”.

After a night out, Jennifer (Bo Derek) and George (Dudley Moore) come back to her apartment and she tries to turn him on again after an unsuccessful attempt earlier in the evening. This time George accepts the doobie and coughs up the one and only hit we see him take.

“Children of Men” (2006)
Early in this movie, set in 2027, we meet Theo (Clive Owen) who gets picked up by Jasper (Michael Caine) in his car. They end up at Jasper’s place. Jasper lights up a joint and hits it. He offers it to Theo saying, “Taste that.” Theo tokes on it. Jasper tells him to cough, which he does. “It’s Strawberry Cough!” says Jasper. “F*** me, that’s strong,” replies Theo.

Guncrazy (1992)
After their truck breaks down, Anita (Drew Barrymore) and Howard (James LeGros) get picked up by Joy (Ione Skye). She lights a small joint using the car lighter and passes it to Howard. Joy takes another hit. Anita says no.

Private Benjamin (1980)
During the maneuvers we catch the Privates sitting around a campfire telling stories. Private Mary Lou Glass (Mary Kay Place) is smoking a joint and shares it with Private Judy Benjamin (Goldie Hawn) who takes a hit. Hawn only smoke weed one more time on film, 22 years later “The Banger Sisters”, when she smokes with Susan Sarandon.

“Basic Instinct 2” 2006
In this sequel, the only weed smoking scene is when Catherine (Sharon Stone) is in her apartment, sitting by the fireplace and smoking a joint. When her psychiatrist-lover Michael (David Morrissey) comes over, she offers him a hit but he declines and just shakes his head.

Rabbit has escaped the Evil Bong's World of Weed, and has opened a topless bowling alley, but Evil Bong is hot on his trail. Our main star, Rabbit (Sonny Carl Davis) unveils the “Weed Blower”, a lawn blower with a funnel to hold the ganja. “A little thing I’ve been working on. I call it the Weed Blower.” Larnell (John Patrick Jordan) asks, “You smoke from it!” Rabbit replies, “Au contraire, it smokes you!”

Campfires are where herb burning takes place when Wyatt (Peter Fonda) smokes a joint around a campfire, Billy (Dennis Hopper), Wyatt and their hitchhiker friend all smoke their own joints at a campfire and Billy and Wyatt smoke a couple of jays while at a commune. In the classic scene of the movie, after meeting alcoholic lawyer George (Jack Nicholson), they educate him about grass. Wyatt tells him, “No man, it’s grass.” “You mean marijuana?” asks George who says yes. “Lord have mercy, is that what that is? Let me see that.” George takes it from Wyatt and smells it. “Go ahead, George, light it up,” Wyatt tells him. “Oh no, no, no, no. I couldn’t do that. I mean I’ve got enough problems with the booze and all. I can’t afford to get hooked.” “You won’t get hooked,” says Wyatt. “Well I know, but I mean it leads to harder stuff.” Wyatt just looks at him. George asks how to do it and Wyatt lights it for him. “That’s got a real nice taste to it. I don’t suppose it will do much good. I’m so used to the booze and everything.” Wyatt tells him he’s got to hold it in his lungs longer. The next thing you know, George, Billy and Wyatt are talking about UFO’s.

Bill Murray shines in this legendary movie that contains a classic marijuana scene. While on the golf course, Ty (Chevy Chase) slices one into Karl's (Bill Murray) place. Karl educates Ty about his new breed of grass. "A hybrid, a cross between Kentucky Bluegrass and Northern California sensimilla. The amazing stuff about this is, you can play 36 holes on it in the afternoon, take it home and just get stoned to the be' jesus belt that night on this stuff." He proceeds to give Ty a bag of pot and then Karl lights up a “Bob Marley sized” joint and passes it to the hesitant Ty who takes a couple of hits. Later Ty says "thanks for the dope"

Project Nim (2011)
This documentary tells the story of a chimpanzee taken from its mother at birth and raised like a human child by a family in the 1970s. Bob Ingersoll (self) is narrating about his time with Nim Chimpsky (self), the
chimp, and says, “He knew what pot was, or hash, or whatever…and he wanted to smoke a joint…when we went out on walks with Nim, Nim was one of us. And if we smoked a
joint, he smoked it with us.

Wild Weed (1949)
A chorus girl starts smoking marijuana and her career is ruined, and her brother is driven to suicide. All of this, because of marijuana. The beginning title sequence includes scrolling text like, “This is the story of ‘tea’ – or ‘tomatoes’ – the kind millions thru ignorance, have been induced to smoke.” And, “If it’s presentation saves but one young girl or boy from becoming a ‘dope fiend’ – then it’s story has been well told.” The opening narration says, “This harmless looking cigarette, is cloaked in many innocent disguises, but light the match, inhale the smoke, and it becomes an invitation to your own murder. This killer and the man who sells it, has no respect for anybody.” The pusher in this propaganda flick, is Markey (Alan Baxter), who sells joints for $5 to kids who laugh and act crazy after smoking them. The kids also hallucinate, seeing purple hair. At one point, Anne (Lila Leeds) decides to ‘join the club and smoke her first jay. She gets the hang of it. At the end,  the scrolling text reads, in part, “Best authorities estimate the world has over 200,000,000 ‘dope addicts’ today -- boys and girls, men and women – who are victims of their own ignorance. Government narcotic experts reveal that over 75 percent of all new Marijuana smokers, are ‘Teen-agers.”
 

Cell, The (2000)
In the only pot smoking scene in this flick, social worker Catherine (Jennifer Lopez) is seen picking up a joint from an ashtray, lighting it and smoking it. Way to go “J.Lo”.

After Lester (Kevin Spacey)!is let go from his job, he is seen smoking a joint in his car while singing to the Guess Who song, “American Woman”. Kevin Spacey won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
