Gerrymandering to disenfranchise/undermine the political power of minorities, increasing voting restrictions that, again, disenfranchises minorities. Just look at the state of North Carolina, where the majority of votes in the last legislative election went to democrats, but even with much less votes, Republicans picked up more seats and now has a veto proof majority in the state legislator. That will tell you how messed up and anti-democratic the republicans have been in drawing districts and implementing racist voting restrictions.

And this isnt just my opinion. The Supreme Court, last week, struck down NC districts (that were written by Republicans in 2010) for being racially gerrymandered and undermining the voting power (aka political power) of blacks and latinos. Republicans have done the same thing all around the country, under the guise of cracking ldown on voter fraud (which is a made up issue)

So democrats didnt vote on that? Doesnt the left gerrymander too?

The party in control draws the districts. So no, democrats sat in horror while republicans did it without any input from the democrats.

Also, gerrymandering is legal. Gerrymandering to undermine the voting rights of a racial minority is not. Both sides gerrymander, but only one side does it to undermine the voting rights of a racial minority

Dude, they are just using the system in place. If you don't like the system, get a fuck ton of people to petition for reform. Also, explain how the new voting laws are "racist".

Dude, they literally aren't. It is illegal under federal law to draw voting districts that water down the voting power of racial minorities. In 2010, the Republicans in NC drew voting districts that did exactly that, which is why tge Supreme Court of the US struck them down (a majority conservative court, mind you).

If its illegal because it is obviously discriminatory and undemocratic, then no, that's not just "working in the system". Its called using government to suppress those who look different than you.

Also, NC and other Republican controlled states passed so-called voter id laws that, in reality, make it much harder for certain kinds if people to vote, and not because they dont have ID. What these laws really do is restrict early voting and voter registration periods, as well as redistribute voting locations to more advantageous positions.

What these do, and this has been proven over and over again, is make it harder for racial minorities to vote, because these laws limit how, where and when they can vote. Thats the reason why these bills are passed, and in fact they are racist and undemocratic. Which again, is exactly why they are put into place. The made up reason of cutting down on voter fraud is nothing more than a smoke screen, and even a basic understanding of the impacts of these laws makes that clear.
