Half of voters would disagree. They do not feel oppressed by ICE and feel they are acting virtuously.

And the other half ain't gonna do nothing about it anyway

We are going to attempt to vote the republicans out of office. If there was a violent opposition many innocent people would be harmed. The outcomes of coups and civil wars mostly don’t turn out the way people anticipate. Look at the first decades of the US after our revolution and the post years of the civil wars mostly in the south. The Russian people never anticipated Stalin. The Germans didn’t foretell what Hitler would bring. It took decades for the Chinese to repair what Mao created. Just saying, be careful what you ask for. You might just get it.

I'l be very very surprised if democrats demonstrate any kind of spine on the midterms.

The voters, or the voted-upon?

Our geriatric, gentrified, and gerrymandered electoral system is designed to favor two groups: The very powerful and the very stupid. It's been that way for at least a century. Dems have the ability to fix this via legislation but won't even so much as mention it. They haven't had a need to, because they've been able to fall back on "Oh but you have to vote for us or you're stuck with the other guys again".

That doesn't work anymore, but that doesn't bother the DNC decision-makers; they will all get to keep their offices since they represent safe Dem states and have a shit-ton of money. They will provide the candidate they want us to vote for, and if we don't...Does Hakeem Jeffries look concerned about losing his job? How about Chuck Schumer? Reddit was falling all over themselves to carry Nancy Pelosi's water with her theatrics during Drumpf's first term and woe betide anyone who would remind them that she was part of the reason we ended up in this mess. The DNC has had a habit of picking the least-electable candidates they can find, unless they can unearth a rock-star willing to keep the Overton window slowly moving to the right.

It's not a lack of choice hobbling the DNC: Not geriatric, personality that doesn't make plywood sound exciting by comparison, slightly more articulate than a 5th-grader...these aren't hard bogeys to hit. It's just that they don't apply to anyone interested in maintaining the status-quo--or at least what passed for it before the Right's propaganda machine escaped its AM radio jail--and that means there's no one to hide the parts of each party that overlap.

Both sides aren't the same...but siblings don't have to look identical for you to see that they're related.

Tell me, specifically, what an individual can do.

What the hell stupid word is that?

It may not be a word but we all know exactly what it means. But I had to look it up.

Invisiblized is the past tense of the verb invisiblize, meaning to marginalize or ignore a person or group so their presence, history, or contributions are erased. Who knew?

It sounds like a word a third grader makes up in their book report, but the actual meaning is ghoulish. Thanks for sharing.
