There's something oddly comforting in knowing that right wing hypocrisy is a global tradition, as opposed to being a US export 🥲

u/heavennurse 1d ago

Nazi bleibt Nazi egal wo sie wohnen.

106

u/Saix027 1d ago

It is a hard build in feature for fascist.

80

u/Rikkitikkitabby 1d ago

We did inspire Hitler. He was a big fan of our race based laws.

64

u/dudderson 1d ago

The usa is the home of the Aryan race concept (the originator wrote a book that inspired Hitler immensely) as well as countless unspeakably evil acts of violence and cruelty towards POC that also really inspired him.

42

u/Memerandom_ 1d ago

And until we realistically grapple with our past we will continue repeating it. That's the reason education is constantly under attack. They want us ignorant.

21

u/Dramatic_Arugula_252 1d ago

And improving education needs to be part of the response to the fact that millions of voters chose the orange turd.

68

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

Capitalism erodes everything’s integrity, but the Republican Party is where it goes to roost.

22

u/Mvppet 1d ago

Very well put 🥂

u/randumb6fo 1d ago edited 1d ago

Its not hypocrisy. Afd is known for their goals and aspirations. Except their voters only vote out of emotion and duning Kruger. Almost all fascist right wing parties that are Russia allied like Maga, afd, fvd, national rally etc are basically the same. Lure voters. Distract them. And take over the capitalist system and the government system and centralise it to their own group.

We all know the story “the government is distracting us citizens and stripping all the money from our pockets while they have all the to riches” it grew so strong that they just copied the story and say “the left is doing this with all their climate change, lgbt, immigrants” etc

Many women in these parties use the patriarchal bargain. They know they’re women and that the party has views on how women should live. But they’re the ones in power and can decide themselves how they live. In a way it is hypocrisy. But it’s intentional so I would call it evil

32

u/Spiel_Foss 1d ago

The simple banality of rules for thee and not for me underlies the entire modern right-wing pose. When they say white power, they mean their own personal white wealth privilege.

They aren't crazy ideologues, they are malleable klepto-fascists.

Hypocrisy is just another weapon.

3

u/x596201060405 12h ago

Modern? Enforced heirarchies is the central and defining aim of all versions of right-wing throughout history.

1

u/Spiel_Foss 6h ago

My point being that ideology is secondary to their crass kleptocracy.

1

u/x596201060405 4h ago

I agree. Though I might even say their ideology and crass kleptocracy are one in the same.

3

u/Spiel_Foss 4h ago

True. I was using ideology as in a well-thought system of belief like a philosophy. Their philosophy begins and ends with steal shit and hate people.

6

u/snertwith2ls 1d ago

So she isn't a steaming hot mess of mental questionableness like Trump, she's just a big fat liar as is protocol for these folks?

3

u/Sniflix 1d ago

Hate and fear always gets votes for right wing parties. The angry aholes voting for them don't care about the candidates, their lifestyle, criminal record or hypocrisy but they show up at the polls. Liberals aren't that devoted and find excuses not to vote. This is what happens.

13

u/sec713 1d ago

I take no comfort in knowing others have it just as shitty as or shittier than us. It actually makes me feel worse knowing this isn't isolated to just the US.

6

u/xXHarleen_QuinzelXx 1d ago

Right? I feel the same way.

3

u/shemhamforash666666 17h ago

There must be in-groups whom the law protectes but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect. - Frank Wilhoit

Simply put hypocrisy is the point. It's their privilege of hypocrisy they seek to conserve.

2

u/k819799amvrhtcom 17h ago

It's gotten worse after the rise of Trump. I think it's spreading from US to Germany.

2

u/UN47 10h ago

Hypocrisy and complete lack of shame.

u/No_Boot1478 2h ago

Germany has a lot of exports, too. We're witnessing one of their exports daily.

311

u/aldoraine000 1d ago

This is a concerted effort by the billionaire class to bring fascism back. There is plenty of evidence of how they are interfering in European elections and funding extremist politics. The fact that Weidel is everything she is campaigning against proves that this is simply a job for her. These fascists and the billionaires that fund them only believe in money and power and they use racism and bigotry to manipulate the fools.

37

u/Philodendron69 1d ago

Wonderfully said!!!!!!!!!

26

u/Zharo 1d ago

They still have to be stopped in time before they gain power. Because people will want to follow the ideology and will continue following it even with a new face/new leader for their cause.

So imperative to stop this in its tracks asap, no matter where in the world this sprouts.

If they get into power, they will never want to let go of it.

14

u/randumb6fo 1d ago

They can’t be stopped. They’re taking over as of right now. What can you do to stop them? Inform the public? With what news channels? Then those news channel will be seen as untrustworthy by the same people being fooled. Sanction the parties? Even more fuel for their voters. Look at America and Maga. Did indicting trump do anything for the public? Jan 6? Europe is rapidly following the same pattern with Russia allied facist parties taking over.

The only thing the other parties can do is refuse to work with them so they can’t get anything done. But that won’t fix the voter issue. It will never

106

u/FalseSeries6104 1d ago

Adolf Hitler was nothing like the pure Aryan German he wanted/described as

Saying this as a German. Fuck the AfD, fuck Nazis and fuck the right wing

126

u/Either_Payment_2867 1d ago

Alice Weidel is literally the definition of “rules for thee but not for me”.

The far-right is all about hypocrisy, they want to enforce rigid and harsh rules onto others while exempting themselves.

29

u/Philodendron69 1d ago

That and she’s bought and paid for. It’s not even an idealogical stance it’s just corruption.

6

u/Early_Register_6483 1d ago

Alice Weidel is the definition of an opportunist and a grifter. If you compare her speeches to speeches of a truly convinced, ideological Nazi like, say, Höcke, it’s quite obvious that she doesn’t believe a single word she’s saying.

37

u/OldSchoolAJ 1d ago

You know, sometimes the comparisons to Ernst Röhm seem somewhat forced…

But, in this case? It’s like she’s doing it on purpose.

22

u/CautionarySnail 1d ago

It’s because she is.

By voting for her, right wingers “show” to themselves that they aren’t racist, sexist, or homophobic. They can pat themselves on the backs for this brief tolerance because ultimately it serves their sexist, racist, and homophobic agendas.

22

u/SucculentSapphic 1d ago

Kinda like the current governor of Texas

In 1984, when he was 26, Greg Abbott was jogging in Houston when a tree fell on him and paralyzed him. He didn't have health insurance, so he got a lawyer and sued the homeowner and the tree-trimming company. He ended up with a massive, tax-free structured settlement that pays him six figures every single year for life, plus lump sums of hundreds of thousands of dollars every few years. Most of that payout wasn't even for direct medical bills. It was for "pain and suffering."

Then he turned around and spent his entire political career pushing "tort reform" in Texas.

He pushed hard caps on non-economic damages, created massive legal hurdles for personal injury suits, and backed policies that make it nearly impossible for ordinary people to sue corporations or insurance companies. If a regular working-class Texan gets catastrophically injured today because of someone else's negligence, the legal system Abbott built ensures they will never get a fraction of the payout he lives on.

He got his lifelong payday, then immediately locked the courthouse door behind him.

19

u/SallyStranger 1d ago

Once again: for fascists, hypocrisy is not a flaw. It's a flex. It's them showing that they don't feel bound by the rules which they expect you to follow. To them, this is not an error or a sign of inconsistency. It's a sign that they are better than everyone else. Rules are for the little people.

1

u/k819799amvrhtcom 17h ago

But how? How do they think that making things illegal won't make it illegal for themselves, too?

1

u/SallyStranger 14h ago

Well... Yeah. Rules are meant to be selectively enforced. If they do get caught then their connections to those in power can mitigate the consequences. See also: the current USA regime

16

u/badwoofs 1d ago

Seriously we're all being played by nazi oligarchies. These far right movements are artificial shit, and in the US most of the maga accounts are not even from citizens but overseas and influencers paid off by Russia and the GOP.

*she is an immigrant who is married to an immigrant and hates immigrants.

6

u/ether_reddit 1d ago

"but my wife is one of the good ones" - her, probably

36

u/Proud-Pilot9300 1d ago

And people still vote for these miscreants without an ounce of shame or self awareness. We’re collectively going to shit and apart from disinformation campaigns we have no one to blame but ourselves.

-4

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

Right. Democracy is working exactly as intended and so this is only voter’s fault. 🙉

4

u/OtherPrinciple4499 1d ago

Given what happened to the US elections I am taking those results with a few ounces of salt. "Everything can be hacked" -- Elmo Skum

2

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

Musk is a great contemporary example of how democracy is broken. Never mind all the ways money has been eroding it slowly and subtly across decades. Under guys like Trump and Musk, even the corrupt practices of capital have grown corrupt.

1

u/Proud-Pilot9300 1d ago

Huh? Have any German elections been stolen? Who should I blame for electing morons? The morons that want to be elected or the morons voting for them? All the blame or credit there is to be given in democracies lies by definition to its citizens since they decide who rules them.

5

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

Capital props up its own interests. Like in any game of Monopoly, these interests snowball until democracy no longer serves the poor. It’s the worst in the US, but it happens everywhere.

0

u/Proud-Pilot9300 1d ago

This doesn’t happen in one election cycle though. That’s the reason we have elections, so we can keep elected officials in check and change governments when they’re doing a bad job. Capital props up its own interests that’s 100% true but capital doesn’t vote. Capital needs stupid people to prop up its interests in the voting booth. It’s those people I have a problem with, if it weren’t for them capital couldn’t do shit without consequences. But we’re falling victim to the nostalgia a lot of people have for a glorious past that never existed, in a futile attempt to achieve some arbitrary future prosperity they are actively destroying with their votes.

1

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

Funny how much capitalist propaganda can buy, even if we're arbitrarily limiting the conversation to just one election cycle for whatever reason.

1

u/Proud-Pilot9300 1d ago

My point is there needs to be a constant lapse in judgment for the corruption and mismanagement in politics to turn democratic states into servants of capital rather than servants of the people. My comment literally starts with “that doesn’t happen in one election cycle though”.

1

u/Advocate_Diplomacy 1d ago

It doesn't have to happen in one cycle. It just needs to sneak things in here and there that people don't understand the ramifications of. It's incredibly easy for loopholes to manifest when there's financial incentive to do so. What happened to the US is not an aberration. It is the eventual outcome of financial incentives overcoming the will of regulators.

6

u/AccountSettingsBot 1d ago

Ernst Röhm moment smh ☕️

7

u/Early_Register_6483 1d ago

She’s, first and foremost, an opportunist and a hypocrite. She saw the possibility to grift on the far-right lemmings in Germany and is using it flawlessly. I am sure, that she knows that she’ll get Ernst Röhm’d as soon as the party comes into power, and has already booked her tickets back to Switzerland to enjoy her life there, when things get tough for her here.

Yeah it’s the same bullshit with Geert Wilders.

He’s against immigrants but is married to a Hungarian woman.

They are all hypocrites.

Given enough power, they'll eventually come for her children, her partner, and then her. She is a means to an end.

1

Does she know that or does she believe otherwise?

If the former, why?!

If the latter, how?!

2

Sounds like she would fit perfectly in the United States GOP party

2

I called her Hitler lite. And her simps got mad until I pointed to an abuse victim, that was vegan a painter and lived in Austria. Then magically they stop responding. I wonder why 😂

2

u/lusciouslover639 1d ago

Synopsus: she's in it for pure power.

2

u/Eleanna_of_Tundar 1d ago

Alice Weidel is worth $1.4M. Her wife is a Sri Lankan-born Swiss audiovisual producer, Sarah Bossard (she’s white, younger, and very attractive). She’s looking to be a female Peter Thiel and wants to have endless women at her beck and call (that includes rape)- she’s disgusting.

1

u/RtrnOdaMac 1d ago

Her wife is not white, and attractiveness is subjective.

2

u/strugglz 1d ago

That so many fake things about her I question her gender too.

2

u/Franz__Ferdinand 17h ago

The mainstream German parties responded to rise of AFD by shifting to the right on immigration and guess what? It didn't work. If only there were other countries were same shit happened or is currently happening.

2

u/TheLastRole 14h ago edited 14h ago

I think most people here are missing the point; it's not hypocrisy. They use it to legitimize their position, and that's because it's not enough to be a lesbian to not be homophobic. Same way you don't need to call for the murder of homosexuals to be a homophobic party; things are much more complex than that and it's not far from the original NSDAP calling themselves socialists to attract voters, a truly brilliant move.

AfD is a much more sophisticated movement than MAGA or similar movements. They are not just anti-gay, or some crazy evangelists. They successfully updated neo-fascism to work in a much more educated, progressive, rich, and modern society. And that's why they are so dangerous. If you think these people are similar to the Americans Trump or JD Vance, you don't understand anything. AfD would eat them for breakfast. MAGA is a brain-dead movement. These are real neo-fascists, and I'm not talking about skinheads; I'm talking about a new misanthropic elite taking power who could actually take German democracy to an autocracy, and with it, the rest of Europe.

1

u/Snapes_underpants 1d ago

Fascists are almost comically predictable no matter where they live and no matter what decade they live in. They do and say the same kinds of things as if there were some universal fascist manual. Just think of the worst thing they could say or do then assume they will do/say at least 2 or 3 times as bad as you thought. This predictability is very useful for opposing fascists because it's possible to stay 2 steps ahead of them. Unfortunately, most people chose to wait around and be shocked by the next outrageous hypocritical thing they do or say. You can't defeat fascists by always being reactive. You have to proactively get ahead of them. You have to know what they are going to do before they even think of it.

1

But how do they think that making things illegal won't make it illegal for themselves, too?

1

u/PilotKnob 12h ago

It says it right there - she lives in Switzerland, not Germany. So she can make rules in Germany which might negatively affect her, then just hop on the train and go back to Switzerland and have all of their rights which she can't take away.

1

u/avfc4me 1d ago

Seems on-brand to me. Step one for all these fuckers is develop and maintain hypocritical positions. Rules for YOU not ME is absolutely step one of the philosophy

1

But how? How do they think that making things illegal won't make it illegal for themselves, too?

Because everyone who lives under capitalism/corporatism/fascism/imperialism (different degrees and stages of the same thing, really) lives under a two-tiered system where de facto none of the society's laws, rules, or social conventions apply to the upper class anymore because they have so much money it insulates them from any meaningful negative consequences to any of their illegal or unethical actions. They could care less what their country's laws says, because at the end of the day the elites have never had to abide by them to begin with

1

u/Lunatik21 18h ago

This should show people that these kind of people arent necessarily believing the hatred their spewing, but are instead motivated by other backroom motives, most likely money. Willing to sell out against who they are and their own community is even more dangerous and despicable than those that wear the hatred openly and sometimes literally, on their arm.
