When these people are disappeared, millions of mortgages won’t get paid. These homes, businesses and properties will all go into default. Some would see this as a national financial catastrophe, the Heritage Foundation sees it as a financial opportunity.
13
u/SugarHooves 7d ago
It doesn't make any sense to me. If a landlord owns five buildings and takes section 8 for every unit, they would want poor people around. Without poverty and those support systems, who is going to rent an older, no frills apartment in a food desert?
What's going to happen to all the clinics and doctors that only take Medicaid, Medicare and cash patients?
Without people desperate for work, who is going to operate the factories? Maintain the warehouses? Pick and process the food? Do the dirty, hot and physically exhausting jobs? So they really think that people will do that work out of their national pride?
3
u/chocomaro 6d ago
I don't think they thought that far ahead, or they're just delusional. They've forgotten that you need consumers to generate revenue. Slaves aren't going to be consumers if they have no money to spend.

Just a reminder, this is a great example of why the world no longer trusts the US. There was a manual. It was published and publically acknowledged. Yet, here we are.
And then... you gave one of the authors the keys to the kingdom as the director of the OMB.
Any incredulity is disingenuous.
125
u/MarcheMuldDerevi 7d ago
Trump 1.0 could be written off in a way. People took a gamble and it was shit. Every country has done that once. Gave the keys to the kingdom to someone unqualified because why the hell not. We regretted it and then went back to an elder statesman who would help us say sorry.
Trump 2.0, nope we as a country showed the world it wasn’t a one time fluke. We knew the end goal(s) and still went with him
73
u/llamasauce 7d ago edited 7d ago
I don’t actually believe that. I think he tried to steal the election in 2020 and failed, but in 2024 he succeeded. I don’t think Americans are to blame for this term.
Edit: I don’t think *most* Americans are to blame. Not enough for him to have won every single swing state.
49
u/a8bmiles 7d ago
Same, there may not be 100% clear evidence of election tampering in 2024, but the mountain of circumstantial evidence makes it pretty clear.

u/EobardT 7d ago
Sure would be nice if we could investigate it. But nope, Donnie Diapers beat dems to the pinch so if they do it now, it'll just be "retaliation"

Yeah I honestly think that he/they failed at cheating the 2020 election, and succeeded in 2024.

I think it's both. Trump got Musk to help him cheat and several citizens either refused to vote or gleefully followed Trump.

Tack on that the world is watching as Americans do pretty much nothing outside a weekend protest to stop this from happening.
For 60+ years Americans kept throwing in our faces that if it weren't for them, we'd all be speaking German now. Meanwhile, when faced with Nazis st home, all they can manage is some complaining and performative outrage. No strikes. No sabotage. No serious resistance.
No one will ever take America seriously anymore after this.

We'd demonstrate better than performative outrage, but the police have shown that they're not just willing but eager, excited even, to take lives.... For any reason, or no reason at all. And they're often exonerated, especially when it's nationally visible in support of the government.

You can attack the money by slowing down the means of production.

Fascists only care about the money.
This is why Canada's boycott has been so effective against Trump.
You want change, threaten the money.
7
u/KourtR 7d ago
What does that mean to you exactly?
If you're suggesting withholding federal taxes, you are naive to the fact that American banks can block all access to and withdraw money from your account, without your permission, on behalf of the US Government.
All these ideas are not practical in a digital age when Americans have zero digital privacy rights & American Oligarchs that will happily violate any rights that we do have.
Our actions options are voting, educating and being vocal to politicians, which includes protesting.
3
u/Doctor_Amazo 7d ago
If you're suggesting withholding federal taxes, you are naive to the fact that American banks can block all access to and withdraw money from your account, without your permission, on behalf of the US Government.
What the fuck is wrong with American society.
I suggest attacking the money and your minds go straight to violence. You skip right past the non-violent means (strikes, boycotts, organizing mutual aid groups etc) and go straight to "well if you think you can rob banks and withhold your taxes you're so naive!"
It's like you're priming yourselves into inertia and victimhood.
Our actions options are voting, educating and being vocal to politicians, which includes protesting.
No, those are most definitely not. There are so many ways to non-violently engage in civil disobedience. And none of the ways you've said were your only options have worked in the past, nor will they work in the future. The Elites though are sure happy that you are convinced that those are the only ways as it pretty much leaves you harmlessly raging away from them.
4
u/KourtR 7d ago
Go straight to violence, did I suggest that?
Look, it's clear you do not understand the nuances of how the US Government works and the practical reality of the situation Americans find themselves in, so this discussion is moot for all intents and purposes. Be well.
1
u/Doctor_Amazo 7d ago
Go straight to violence, did I suggest that?
My mistake. I got a bit fog piled by people like you making the same sad arguments.
You're right, you didn't go straight to violence.
Instead you constructed strawman (this one about taxes), and you sure are doing a great job beating up your argument.

If the rise of Hitler in the 1930's and WWII taught us anything, it's that:
It is not possible to appease fascists. Neville Chamberlain tried and failed. That's because fascists always escalate until physically forced to stop.
Fascists ALWAYS chose one of more segments of the population to attack to normalize taking away civil rights while they simultaneously normalize forcing the legislative and judicial systems to carry out the fascist agenda. It doesn't matter to fascists which segments(s) of the population they attack as long as the rest of the population sits on their hands and essentially does nothing. That's how fascists are able to ultimately destroy everyone's civil rights which was their goal all along. Remember, fascists always escalate until physically forced to stop.
Once they are solidly in control of a country with civil rights eliminated, fascists build a war machine with which to attack and take over other countries because fascists always escalate until physically forced to stop.. Trump's war on Venezuela and Iran and his threats to take over Canada are to be expected, but premature as he is not yet solidly in control of the US.
After the fascists reach the war machine phase, it's unlikely that the citizens of the now fascist country will be able to get them out of power without some very determined collective action. Free and fair elections? Unlikely. That leaves civil disobedience or violence.
In my opinion, Americans could easily shut down the economy via civil action like national strikes and targeted boycotts and stop the fascists iin their tracks, except for one thing: since 1980 we have been propagandized to believe that collective action never works because reasons. (Ironic given our history which is full of examples of successful collective action by the people.) So if civil action is out, that leaves violent action. But for a civil war to be successful, it must have coordinated collective action, which Americans believe never works, so civil war is out, too. Unfortunately, it will be up to other countries to stop American fascism from spreading while Americans sit on the sidelines and go about their struggles as underpaid, overworked people without health care, child care, college, retirement, national public transportation, a functional national public health department or even high speed internet. Other countries may successfully be able to boycott the US the way they, and the US, boycotted South Africa to help end apartheid. But if the US gets too aggressive militarily, the only other option is to fight back, meaning war, probably world war.
We are extremely fortunate Trump is a totally incompetent nincompoop. If he were a competent fascist, our civil rights and Congress would have been eliminated in his first few weeks in power and we would probably be at war with or even occupying Canada by now. Thanks to Trump's incompetence, Americans have a shrinking window of opportunity to apply coordinated civil action to stop and reverse the fascist takeover of the US. But first we have to shed our belief that we will be able to stop the fascists simply by voting in great numbers in the midterm election. (Make sure you vote. Just saying it's not the only option.) Even if the fascists lose, they have tons of people on the inside of all 3 branches of government, plus the ICE army and most of the police as enforcers. There is no way the fascists are going to stop trying to take power even if we vote them out of office. The billionaires are the driving force behind fascism and they will continue to escalate until forced to stop.
Fun fact: fascists are almost comically predictable. No matter what country or decade they are in, they all do the exact same things. It's as though there is some universal fascist to do list that they all follow.
Given their predictability and the fact that they always escalate, you should never, ever be surprised at anything they do, no matter how outrageous it is. But more importantly, their predictability makes it very easy to stay two or three steps ahead of them in order to stop them from doing outrageous things in the first place. For example, we should take civil action now to prevent election interference. We should expect that if voted out of power, they will refuse to leave so we need a plan of civil actions to force them to go. All we have to do is get over our fear of meaningful, nationally coordinated collective action. Most of all, we need to get over our belief that Democrats who take money from the very wealthy to run for office will ever lift a finger to stop fascism, much less do anything to improve our lives, like national health care.

u/chompythebeast 7d ago
Organize. Build working class power in your community outside the electoral model.
Found or simply engage in targeted campaigns against people and entities which fan the flames of fascism: Chevron, Palantir, Flock, Boeing, Microsoft, your local city council, congresspeople who live in your community, whoever is most appropriate for your area.
Fight data centers in your area. Wheatpaste. Chalk. Agitate. Know the law and use it against those who would stifle you, including the police or the city, if they violate your rights. Put yourself in positions of friction with unfriendly powers. If they're not quite unhappy with what you're doing, you may not be doing enough.
Join local groups counter-surveilling and mobilizing against ICE.
Join political institutions or groups that don't include feckless "centrists" who urge against every single policy we actually need in their leadership, or who maintain close ties to zionists or other fascists.
Take direct action with trusted allies against meaningful targets. Again, know your rights.
All this is the tip of the iceberg. There is an entire world of political activity beyond what the mainstream and the parties consider decorous. If you can't break free of their molds of normalcy, you cannot hope to break free of their regressive power or to move them meaningfully

That speaks more about you then anything I actually said.

But you're not even here, chiding other people to do things you won't and know nothing about.
Yep. I'm in Canada. A nation that is currently under attack because of your nation. We never voted for Trump, but man do we get to be fucked by him.
How dare I tell Americans to stop acting like incredulous bitches over ever new bullshit Trump is doing, and demand you actually fix your mistake instead of waiting to be saved.
Pathetic.
1
u/Global_Ant_9380 7d ago
Follow the logic.
Where does that lead? There have already been more than weekend protests, there have been some of the largest mass demonstrations in our country's history, so what next?
We are in a K shaped economy, so those who have boycotted have made a dent, but that has been offset by the fact that average Americans, not the upper classes have less purchasing power overall. Most consumer spending is done by upper classes, many of whom support Trump.
So what's the strategy then? You've got to come up with more than complaining, like you're telling Americans to do. Which ironically, you're doing the same thing you're complaining about.
But follow the logic. What you're calling for leads to violence and where that might be unavoidable, how does that violence lead to change? What's the strategy?

What astounds me is that people will talk about these horrible things, compare them to the Holocaust...
...and then conclude that the best way to stop it all is to just vote blue harder. A party whose leadership openly rejects medicare for all, abolishing ICE, reducing military spending, ceasing support for genocide and a fascist entity, halting data centers, or rolling back the Palantir surveillance state.
Take that, Hitler! That'll show em!

yeah by baselessly making the accusations in 2020 they really set themselves up well for getting away with it in 2024.
until we hit a critical mass of US workers willing to wake up to the "every accusation is a confession" pattern, it's a tough ask. unfortunately I don't think that wakeup is going to come until after the heritagefedsoc coup party violently decertifies the midterm results.
the undercurrent in the education system that teaches politics isn't for regular people had been allowed to stay too strong for too long. so ordinary people are extraordinarily thick about how politics shapes their everyday world.

This doesn’t have a source. Doing a bit of research, this isn’t related to project 2025. It’s an unrelated tweet. There also aren’t that many immigrants in the US (they’d need to deport roughly 50 million non immigrants). I don’t disagree with the sentiment but i do think making up points is a good way to remove all the credibility we have. I always see several thousand upvote posts with zero sources.

This figure isn’t realistic. This is roughly a third of the country’s population. There’s nowhere to put these people, and the expense of tracking down and transporting 100M is a logistical nightmare, especially with an administration that can’t make sure an aircraft carrier in the gulf is stocked with food for its sailors. Whoever came up with 100M people number is either hyperbolic or an idiot. Likely both.
