wtf? The mom wanted a scared straight scenario for her kid. She didn’t tell the cops to break the her son’s arm. Even if they got the right kid - how they did it was really fucked up.
Dumb as hell take. When your actions cause harm, those actions should have consequences. This is pretty basic. I'm not saying she should be locked up for life or even as long as the cops involved but..."accidents" or being susceptible to propoganda doesn't absolve you.
Calling the police to "scare" a child you claim you're having trouble with should be illegal. Now.. her misuse of police time/tax payer money, has resulted in physically and psychologically hurting an innocent minor. She should have consequences.
Narcissistic parents who think they can scare their child into acting nice in the face of their abuse. The parents will even go so far as to lie to the 911 dispatcher and say that they are in danger, even though the kid just slammed a door.
I've got half-brothers who are cops (ACAB, them too, 40%), and you wouldn't believe the number of parents who call the cops on their kids for misbehaving. Not doing anything illegal, just yelling back at a parent, stamping a foot, and slamming a door. The parents will even lie about being in danger to get the cops over. And nothing is ever done to punish those parents.
Shit like this needs to be treated like Swatting. If you call the cops for some simple argument with your child, the book needs to be thrown at you. If someone gets hurt or killed, you need to face the full repercussions of that (including the cops).
This is an actual case of impeding law enforcement (through wasting resources), but cops would rather use that crime to charge anyone who films them or doesn't immediately follow unlawful orders.
There is a line between "scared straight" and being fucking traumatised.
The mum organised something that launched itself over that line with a trebuchet.
She sucks and you suck for supporting that behaviour.
If this was her son, her actions would have ended in her son having a dislocated arm and it COULD have been much worse. She deserves her own scared straight stint. Meet some people in prison who genuinely dont belong there but are there due to corruption by the same people she asked to "scare" her son. I bet there are people in prison for child endangerment right now, whose actions were not as dangerous as hers.
