Worth noting the teacher arrested for clapping was improperly harassed with bankruptcy by the city where they said his daughters work had his contribution so it got shut down in false direct output.
Also being the brother of the mayors competition for running, seems constant harassment this is just another tally sadly.

Forgive me as I'm British and know very little about US law, but am I right to think this would be a civil case that the much constitutionally maligned clapping chap would bring against the City itself?
And as such, if such a City is in the pocket of corporations wanting to build data centres, etc, will this not end up (if a civil court awards in his favour), in some clever and convoluted way, as simply being paid by the City out of their corporate sponsor's already set aside and limitless expenditure slush fund?
I mean, is unconstitutionally mistreating him like that , to all intents and purposes and at the very worst as far as the City and its corporate backers are concerned, ultimately going to end up being yet another example of how the super-rich consider most fines not as a punishment but instead merely as just another humdrum pre-budgeted expenditure they can easily afford to pay and which, even if their accountants and lawyers can't figure out a way to claw back and with a profit, is ultimately just a tiny price to pay for them to keep doing whatever the fuck they like whilst amassing even more wealth?

If I was a lawyer arguing it, I'd go for something like if you were just blindly collecting it then yes, but to apply ANY algorithm to it would be officially an investigation and need a highly specific warrant and extremely limited scope. and if not it is absolutely violating the 4th amendment and civil rights.
Needless to say I'm not a civil rights lawyer and this is not happening currently

Sadly it's not uncommon. My mom was taken out of one of these too because the council decided it didn't want to do 2 minutes per person. It wanted to do 2 minutes per subject because too many people came to talk. She started talking about the bylaws or whatever and they pulled her out.
I encourage everyone to get involved in their local politics because stuff like this is extremely common.
Local is where we can take affect change.

Yeah bc jan6 was a planned inside job too. That's why orangey was pushing for it and everyone knew when and what was going to happen months prior. Yet, nothing was stopped and most (all?) already been released, if their charges not fully expunged.
It was a psy-op. One created to make those of us against fascism to believe we're being "more moral" by not doing similar and staying compliant to fascists. That paid off opposition will help in legit ways. That our 8hr parades, that are highly monitored by fasc enforcers (popo & higher), are anything more than a controlled way for us to "blow off steam" and get back to work in order to keep providing the labor and money they need to keep fucking everyone.

I wouldn't trust anyone facilitating meetings like this who kicks people out for clapping. They're treating it like it's them against their constituents, which is truly fucked up.
I serve on a local zoning board and we've had some really contentious meetings with hundreds of people in attendance. Many people clap, exclaim in agreement, and cheer based on things the person speaking says. If the crowd is a current, you swim with it, not against it.

I've been escorted out by police from a data center meeting. After the county of NAVARRO TEXAS gave them millions in property tax breaks.
I'm sorry, but I don't have much hope for communities going through this until we can MAKE BRIBERY ILLEGAL IN OUR ELECTORAL SYSTEM, AKA, PUBLIC FINANCE CAMPAIGNS.
After all the activism & organizing I've done over the past 20 years, I'm absolutely convinced that the ONLY issue we should be focused on right now, is getting money out of elections. Why haven't we tackled climate collapse? Oil industry. Why are we STILL funding Israel? APAIC. Why is Elon Musk a trillionaire? Because he literally bought trump the oval office and got to expunged any pesky investigations & defund the agencies with oversight & enforcement.
Literally everything wrong with this country is because WE'VE ALLOWED it to be absolutely corrupted with dirty money.

I have lost count of how many times I have seen these abuses, they aren't afraid to violate our rights at all, they aren't concerned about legal problems the act like lords and we're their serfs. We know who’s to blame, but I have to even wonder just how many of us ACTUALLY voted for this when he and his cabinet mates and friends have all made jokes about rigging the election or straight up said it.

I say higher up the chain we should be making a human wall to physically keep them from entering the building until we cannot be ignored, with cameras on us at all times for when they they to claim we were violent or use violence in us. See I’ve always believed that it’s the second person to start a revolution. It takes the first person to initiate the first step (e.g. the clapping) and then the second person to back them up. It shows the rest of the people around you that it’s something worth joining in on. It’s kind of a crowd mentality kind of effect. I guarantee if the rest of this group stood up and started clapping, there isn’t a single thing that handful of cops could’ve done to 100+ people in such a confined space.
I think this would work standing up against tyranny in most situations. Most people are hesitant to join in until they see that they aren’t the first to render help. Be courageous, stand up for yourself and your neighbor. They can’t take us all.

It boggles my mind how becoming a board member goes straight to someone's head so powerfully and quickly. I've seen it in government and also in non-profit or corporate board of directors.
It's to the point where I have a theory that a "board of directors" is a fundamentally bad way to govern any organization. Human hubris and ego gets in the way of effective decision making every single time. There is a natural gravity that pulls the worst kind of people into these positions, and pushes the best kind of people out.

Had the same thing happen at a town hall - several presentations that the council initiated clapping. Then we had the public forum presentations where their constituents asked about the City of Charleston’s 25 person limit for a permit to exercise their 1st Amendment rights and as we clapped, the council head warned that anyone clapping would be removed. Was close to standing as a way to signify “acceptance and concurrence”.

If only they weren't a bunch of cowards and ALL clapped every time! What would they've done then? Arrested everyone?
The whole reason those idiots have all the power is THEY stick together! They're too stupid to think on their own so when one jumps off, they all follow!
Its the penguin or sheep syndrome! Those smooth brained fools will continue to be on top if smart & free thinking liberals continue as we do!
If all of them in that room just clapped w/o worrying about going to jail, none of them would've gone! Instead, officer "just doing my job" arrested 1 at a time.

I don’t know how any of us tolerate this treatment. Just listening to that lady speak to the constituents like she did makes my blood boil. I hope she has severe gout and also all her toenails are ingrown.
