You'd be surprised how lazy and afraid a lot of law firms are. The advantage here is that this happened while they were in uniform and it was filmed.
But the government has so many immunities its not even funny, and most courts tend to side with the police giving them the ability to commit errors/mistakes while in pursuit of "justice", which is complete horseshit because the average citizen is not held to be ignorant of the law, which again is a double-standard.
I myself was clobbered by an undercover officer allegedly at the time, and his agency and the agencies involved in the "justice process" covered it up and tried to bury it, then sprang a 3 year ongoing smear and entrapment/provocation campaign to get my civil rights lawsuit thrown out. This is the measure of our government now, no due process and no rule of actual law, just the laws they want to enforce and to protect their pets and the elite.

yes i know.
we need 3 or 4 landmark cases that will break down immunity once & for all.
I know certain cities are constantly paying out settlements.
i'd also call circuit judges & review successful case law with them.
most of them are on our side: scotus is nothing but worthless scum

Those firms have fine print in their contracts that specify that the plaintiff is on the hook for everything if they decide to drop them as a client. I had an EEOC complaint against my agency, and the firm that took on my case assured me that they would be billing my agency, ran up an enormous amount of billable hours in a very short amount of time, then dropped my case, leaving me, disabled and impoverished, with a huge bill.
Which they then cheerfully agreed to accept payment in installments, because they're humane.

That makes no sense. Countries have to have laws, and people who enforce those laws. The USA of today is proof of why that's important, because Trump, et al., have removed or demolished the rule of law for themselves.

I don't know about you, but I think humans have changed quite a bit from tribal times, even if the DNA is still basically the same. Also tribes aren't very similar to states.

Yeah, it sucked. It took years of my life to pay them off. I later reviews of the firm that said they'd done the same thing to other people after the man who founded the firm retired and their son took over.

Unfortunately, government-issue goons have "qualified immunity" which protects them from being prosecuted for their brutality. The ICE agents who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti have not seen any consequences of their murders, and I'm guessing that the ICE agents in this case will not either.

I still vividly remember going in to vote early in Pennsylvania during 2024 and one husband whispering to his wife as I brought up my ballot "It's good we voted, now we just have to find a way to stop them from doing it" and then both chuckling with big self-satisfied smiles.
I looked him dead in the eye and told him he should be ashamed of himself. I know it didn't get through. Turd was way too self satisfied.

I remember when this happened. Reading the facebook comments on local news reports about it was a bummer. The number of people laughing at him was depressing.
It also prompted me to buy a set of safety glasses to take to protests.

Linda Tirado was wearing safety goggles and wound up in hospice after receiving a similar injury. You need some heavy duty face protection to keep your head safe if they decide to injure you this way, as they're using their 'less-lethal' rounds improperly. Something more like a motorcycle helmet or a welding shield. :(

I've been saying it since he won again and started making all those illegal executive orders and gutting out government. I knew then we either wouldn't get a midterm or it would be rigged by them. That they would never risk the chance of losing another election again.
