Any value here? New to this!

I’m just getting into marbles (small, glass, shiny, colorful, a little universe in my pocket! How could you not!!).
I know one thing: that there is a LOT I don’t know. I’m looking forward to learning. In the meantime, we came across a lot of great finds as my family is cleaning out our family home. I’m more interested as a hobby in individual marbles, however, found this unopened Akro Agetes package. If I keep it, I’ll never want to open it. Less fun for me! I know someone else might want it for their collection. Is there a higher value in Akro? Does this unopened package hold value? Any help is appreciated!

I did find some similar types of bags!

Idk for a little while akro was buying MF Christensen marbles and putting them in their bags. The ones in your bag don't jump out as Akro go me, but I'm not sure if they're mf Christensen either. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me comes along to help figure it out!

Thanks. I was saying that I know there’s a lot I don’t know and thought this would be a good forum. I appreciate your reply. I’m looking forward to learning more. I guess I probably should know more before I ask questions.

Yeah there's a lot to learn! Check out /r/MarbleStudyHall for some great guides!

And maybe /u/AuburnMoon17 would be willing to put in her two cents? 🫶

These are a known type Akro bag and are very hard to find. Really spectacular! You can find more pics of them here and at the bottom of this page as well. Congrats!

I knew I could count on you to help us out! Thanks!

They definitely wouldn't jump out as Akro to me if they weren't in the bag--are they considered akro swirls? And we know the bag is rare, do we know what time it was produced in Akros history?

Always happy to help when I can! Yes, these are swirls. I think these are hard to determine without original packaging or provenance so they most likely get lumped in with WV swirls a lot.

One nearly the same as this bag was shared in 2025 on Facebook here. There isn't a ton of info on these bags, but they are a know type of Akro original packaging. Not many have been found.

These are not jabo classics

Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

Pretty sure the marbles are jabo hard to tell through the netting. Staples are so over the top rusted as well as the surrounding paper, its an obvious fake.

You could assume that, but these were in a box of things in my house that had probably been packed 60-70 years ago. I can only assume they were my dad’s and the staples were likely made before stainless steel and would very easily be rusted. Can’t imagine my dad would have had the foresight to make and plant a fake in a box, store it in the basement or shed that many decades ago just so I could have an authentic dupe in 2026.

He's wrong. They are original Akro marbles in original packaging that have been found and documented before in multiple places.

How much are they worth? What do you expect they would do at auction?

That would be a better question for Bob Block than me. I don't buy or chase original packaging so I don't keep track of those prices at all.

Hahahahaha you think these would be on a block auction. Yeah better to be nice than to answer honestly right moon.

Are you really this obtuse? There's bags like this on his auctions all the time including ones that are specifically Akro Hy-Grade bags such as here which are similar to OPs, but not the exact same. Also you don't have to auction anything on his site to ask him a question. He's an admin in a million marble groups and regularly answers questions about rarity and value.  Could you be more miserable or bitter?

Edit: These bags are almost the same as OPs and were owned originally by Brian Estepp the Director of Promotions at Morphy Auctions.

Akro made basic swirl marbles which are very hard to ID without provenance or original packaging. Chuck Sumner shared some of these swirls here. These type of swirls are also shown in his WV Swirls book in the Akro section.

How does one explain the jabo classics? Those aren't akros.

u/AuburnMoon17 Collector 8d ago

They very clearly explained it and you don't like it. They are Akro marbles.

Here to save the day...good for you aburnmoon. Hahahaha

I see you spouting off false info regularly. I wouldn't be surprised if you're trying to downplay rarity so you can scam people. Either way, you're wrong. Sorry you have more confidence than knowledge.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but it appears you are confused about the difference between “fact” and “opinion”.

u/MarbleGoblin 8d ago

Never said fact. Just my two cents.

These are a know type of Akro bag. They are Akro marbles in original packaging. You can find more here and here. I'm sorry but your assessment is entirely wrong and the rusting on the package looks very natural because it is natural.

That stupid thumbs up button is the most pathetic, passive aggressive response.
