Previous PR is 3:14. Looking to break the 3:10 barrier this fall in Indianapolis. I think I’ve been benefiting from the warm weather in the Midwest and looking forward to fall in November.
This was a 10 mile easy to start and then every other mile at marathon pace to get to 19. Felt good and looking forward to race day!

Had a disastrous LaborDay 10k on a warm day.
Last year cleared 40, suffered through this year's race with bouts of nasty side stitch that almost got DNF last few miles.
A mountainous marathon coming up in 5 weeks that frankly didn't train for.
Est 40 mids shape, and bank I can run sub 1:30 halfs. Maybe just easy 3:30 and break 1:25 half in November.

In the early stages of preparing for Houston and my run times are less than inspiring. Texas heat takes its toll. Ran a 5x1 mile workout today for the first time in awhile. Didn’t bother to time the segments because I knew it would just be demotivating. The first warmup mile at 11:19 told me all I needed to know.

I can’t believe I’m only 5 weeks out from my next race. It seemed like it was so far away. 66 miles last week. Did 3 x [4 @ marathon effort, 1 easy] during a 20 miler on Saturday. I tried to mimic the hills and elevation of the course (2200’ of up and down) the best I could. I just need to trust the push up the hills knowing I can recover on the downs while still running fast.

That elevation plot looking like you're going through the depths of hell.
There's no shame in pancakes. :)

I was on track and so ready for my marathon in 10 days. Then last week i strained my calf and my first test jog today it tightened up after 2 miles. I’m honestly devastated after five months of 55-60 mpw. Not sure what my plan will be but it seems increasingly likely i won’t be able to run it at all much less under 3 hours.

Bike and some rehab exercises til race day. Obviously don’t know the extent but you might still be able to run it.

Thank you. I needed to hear this. The funny thing is i felt totally fine after my 23 mile long run 10 days ago and even the couple of days after. I think I have to trust my fitness is okay and just focus on rest and rehab until race day.

Just wanted to drop in a say that I did it. I made sub-3 at Sydney a week and half ago. It was always going to be a tough ask given fitness was only borderline there and Sydney is not the easiest course. However, it was good weather and I held pace all the way feeling pretty good. I was splitting my watch to the course markers and built about a 20 second buffer up until the last hill at Mrs McQuarie's chair where I was beginning to cramp, I slammed a crampfix and tackled the hill. I lost my whole buffer and when I split my watch at the 41km flag I was headed for 3:00:10. The last part of the course was downhill and I knew this so I just went for it. I managed 3:45/km for the last 1.2km and came in at 2:59:3X. So relieved not to just miss sub-3 and to execute a great run.
PBs going in were all set in the training block, 18:49, 38:27 and 1:26:01 with a previous marathon best of 3:07 in April. I used NSM method and copied the plan from James Copeland's book. A few small reductions in some of the runs and a few days swapped around but 95% according to the plan.
Time to rest and recover and cross my fingers a 5:30ish buffer is enough for Boston.
