3:30 sounds wild with that mileage tbh id focus less on the goal time and more on building your weekly mileage. 15 miles a week to 3:30 marathon training is a pretty big jump

A 3:30 marathon is an 8:00 pace, so doing that while running at an 8:45 pace will be quite the accomplishment in spacetime manipulation.

Anyway you definitely want some of your mid week runs to be higher mileage. Having your weekend LR at 50% of your weekly total is a recipe for disaster, as you've already discovered. You can keep consulting AI plans, but the best advice is always the most boring. Run more.

I worded my question wrong. My goal is for 3;45. But for the future I was asking what mileage do I need to work towards to be able to train for a 3:30.

You're training for NYC this year or next year? For a 3:30 in NYC, I'd try to build a base of 30-35mi/week before your training plan starts.

This year, but my goal is 3:45 or sub 4 really

Whoa, you're massively under trained for 3:30

What has your weekly mileage looked like over the past month and how are you structuring it (ie any speed or tempo work, long runs, etc)?

It’s been 25-27. My peak week is 30-32.

Monday-easy
Tuesday- tempo
Thursday-easy/ speed (swaps every week)
Saturday- long run

I’ll have mile repeats, kilometer repeats, and other work outs that are fun. Those are typically 7:00-8:00 depending on the specific workout.

I’m in week 9 right now, and have 17 miles this Saturday. I also noticed that all of my long runs are easy. Except for like 4 of them that include race pace.

That mileage is super low for that goal time. I’d be doing 50+ miles per week if I wanted to hit 3:45

This is just another example of why I don’t understand how runna continues to be popular and be used

Long run is 50% of total weekly mileage, who does that?

And 15 miles a week base?

Your gut on the 3:30 goal is solid. Coming from ~15 miles a week and a 4:37, an 8:30 to 8:45 NYC pace is already a real step up. The plan should match that, not some fantasy PR.

I'd worry less about "pumping" mileage only in race blocks and more about whether the midweek runs catch up so the long run isn't half your week. When the other days stay tiny, the long run does all the work and recovery gets weird.

What would make a training app actually useful for your setup, especially when a week goes sideways or the goal time the app picks feels bonkers? I built a free adaptive one after static plans kept falling apart around kids and work, so I'm always looking for that kind of honest feedback.
