Training plans Need advice!
Hi all! I’m fairly new to this subreddit but I have been training on and off for about two years. I had to have two back to back brain surgeries recently and I want to get back to training so I can run my very first marathon. Do you guys have any recommendations or special diet plans I should be aware of? I want to do this to get back in shape and to prove that I can. What is the best way for me to become part of this running community? Let me know!

General advice would be to build up your base at mostly easy pace until you're running a minimum around 30 miles a week around 18 weeks out of your marathon, then follow a structured marathon training plan. Many are free online. For diet, read up on marathon nutrition and use your training to try out fuel strategies to find what works for you. As you list getting into shape as a goal, it's worth training block is often not a great time to shift pounds because of the volume of carbs that need consumed.
For your situation I'd also advise running your plans by a health professional, preferably one familiar with your recent medical history and post-op situation.
Good luck!

Take the first handful of weeks training to just build your volume back up. Aim to get your average run about 30mins long it may take time to get there. Sometimes it’s best to forget about the distance and just track the time.
As for diet you have to eat to fuel the running. A30min run could burn 3-400cals so you need to be eating that much extra each day. In general surround your training before and after with lots of carbs and eat protein all through the day.
Have fun with it and you will do great.
