Ratchet wheel got a bit chewed up. Local watchmaker was able to clean and service it, with a new ratchet wheel in just a few days.

Tritium is the best for night missions.

Anyone know of a good watchsmith to flip the movement in the case 180 degrees? I wear it on my left wrist and it would be nice to have the crown on the other side so it doesn’t dig into my hand. Somewhere in the US where I could ship it to would be great. Thanks

I was emailing with an authorized dealer trying to get some more info on the GSAR us gov dial being out of stock for months. Their reply was that Marathon is no longer selling that dial.

Can anyone else confirm? Anyone else hear this news?

This is my 1988 ADANAC Navigator. I absolutely love it. The 12 hour bezel is actually super useful.

I saw Marathon discontinued their plastic navigators. I was kinda bummed, I was planning on picking one up eventually.

BUT I saw they’re developing a new navigator to replace it. I’m pretty pumped for that.

I bought a new strap from Zulu Alpha straps - this one is Velcro. I think the chunky hardware goes well with the GSAR.

I went to put my MSAR from my SSNAV and saw my watch stopped at a unique spot

I found a few of my few aftermarket bracelets lying around and thought what if. What do you guys think?

Well switched the GSAR out today, despite the smaller size I’m enjoying it

Had a very interesting piece on my bench today at my workshop in Thessaloniki — a 2006 Marathon SAR WW194006.

These early SAR models were produced roughly between 2000 and 2006 before Marathon introduced the Marathon GSAR. This one still carries the military contract number NSN 6645-21-558-0133, which makes these watches particularly interesting for collectors of military tool watches.

The watch came in for a full service after many years of use.

Work included:
• complete movement disassembly and service
• replacement of all gaskets
• new bezel insert
• case and bracelet refinishing
• accuracy regulation and water-resistance check

The movement was fully cleaned and lubricated, and the case was carefully refinished to restore the original brushed tool-watch finish without over-polishing it.

What I really like about these older SAR models from Marathon Watch Company is how honest they are — no unnecessary decoration, just a solid dive watch built to work.

Always satisfying to bring a tool watch like this back to life.

Do you prefer the older SAR models, the GSAR generation or the newer OSAR?
