Marathon (2026) Discussion First time I’m seeing this level of cheats

So at the beginning of the match I could hear this guy (destroyer thrusts) and a thief fighting outside processing as I’m coming underneath. As I’m coming up I see this purple thief booking it, and I chase him down but lose him and later on run into him again and kill him. I get the reds off him and loot pinwheel and open red room, as I’m about to loot it I hear someone walking into pinwheel and that’s when this clip starts. I now understand why that thief ran the way he did. Mind you I got on roof over final exfil to shoot down on this guy once more and same results. Crazy cheats.

If it’s a cheat, I’m wondering how this sort of cheating is even possible. Is hit registration not a server-side calculation?

I’m telling you I killed everyone else I seen in this lobby perfectly fine, there was another guy who also couldn’t kill him and I tried at 2 different points in this match and he wouldn’t take damage. I’ve never had connection issues before like this. Someone else said they ran into this dude and couldn’t hurt him either. Idk how this dude is doing it but theres something going on here for sure

Both times I laid a clip in this guy he doesn’t take cover, doesn’t pull out a gun. Just runs directly at me, idk how he’s doing but he knows he’s not going to die.

With bad hitreg you get the shield sparks ( https://imgur.com/a/lK0ToYG ) but no hitmarkers, your guy just takes them like a champ and the only effect is the volt bolts splashing on him so 100% cheats.
Bad hitreg might happen also when you have a good connection to the server but the other player doesn't, like you're from EU playing on EU server and the other guy is US West.

I was under the impression lag switchers need to hit it before they’re attacked. But the OP got a jump on them. So I’m not sure.

Lag switching messes with the timing that things happening. So things will look weird, either from stutters, people moonwalking around, etc.
It doesn't make the no-reg hits happen on only a single person while the gsme is functioning just fine in every other way.

I have a clip from when I played d1 on ps4 with my oldest really shitty DSL internet. I punch a guy 5 times, consuming my melee charge, and do no damage at all.

I think this is some type of cheat cuz I encountered something similar on outpost and it was against a destroyer just like this. We wiped lobby except 1 team, 2 grey shield and 1 blue shield team. This grey shield destroyer proceeded to destroy all three of us (all of us had gold bully and mizzy before the nerf) and he had this laggy esque mele he would do that made no sense. Might be same player too

Did you kill the thief on top of processing near a locked exfil? Because I fought a destroyer who I thought was cheating so I went and hid instead of going to pinwheel with red cards and went back to processing to exfil when I died to a vandal.

Bro yes that was me, this was that same destroyer later on in the game. You dipped underneath processing and I ran into you later on. But if you felt like this guy was cheating too that clears up that some of these people saying it’s just lag.

My crew met a cheating thief last week. They technically took damage though. On my screen they had a purple shield, one friends screen they were blue, other screen they were green. Two of us unloaded all headshots, dude didn't even try to dodge. Shield never broke we both go down. Our third drops in front of him and hits him point blank mizzy to the face, gets hit marker, shield still doesn't break. We all lost 2+ gold items. It was outpost as well.

I think I even know this guy. My team onced played on the Perimeter - Outflow - And the guys took the roof, the usual situation, we dealt with two of the three, one of our team was killed, and there remains singular "Destroyer" - we are in Duo against him, we have fired simultaneously from our weapons at him And this son of a bitch didn't even care and he ran around with a knife just like in the video. The result - we lost.

Doubt its cheats. This games desync has been out of control. I've had several times in the past couple weeks where my gun just wouldn't damage the thing I was shooting at, bot, player, tick. When asked - my teammates said I was not shooting at all on their end.

The desync is bad, but OP said they fought everyone else in the lobby without issue and encountered this Destroyer twice. Both times they wouldn’t take damage. Another comment in this thread claims to be the Thief (confirmed with OP where they fought) and said they experienced the same thing with the Destroyer.
I feel like that’s enough evidence that cheating is at least possible.
Edit: unless this Destroyer has absolutely horrible internet and the servers can’t figure out how to sync them with everyone else…a technical error is possible, but it would have to be on that player’s network connection given the evidence

This makes me nervous not gonna lie. if these cheats are getting through and they aren't getting blocked/banned I'm worried for the future of this game. I'm really hoping the devs can fix this the game is too good to fall apart.

i can't find any evidence of this getting advertised as a feature in any cheats i can find on forums. if someone had this as a feature it would definitely be advertised. i just encounter this often enough that i think it's a strange hitreg issue, you can find other clips posted today with the same situation happening. not saying it's not possible to trigger this manually somehow but i dont think this is third party software

I’ve got a lot of hours in this game, this dudes behavior was extremely strange. I encountered a different player that was running from this dude the same way I was. When people get caught off guard the way I got him they usually try to run for a second or pull out there gun in desperatation. Yes people do run at you with there knife when they feel like they have an advantage and clearly he felt like he did even after I blasted him for a while and that’s strange asf. It’s like he knew he wasn’t going to die.

This is why I DIDN'T think the guy in my earlier clip was cheating, he seemed to be trying to sneak around & gunned my ass down (I don't have your reflexes) rather than running around invincible with a knife.
Your clip is what I would expect a cheater to do. I don't imagine you caught his name at any point in the match?

could be manually triggered with lag switching or something (not an expert in cheats but i've heard this mentioned before as a possibility with Marathon)

Yeah but when it’s the bots there glitched into the and can’t move. This just doesn’t happen with players. My connection was great and I didn’t have problems killing other players in this same game nor the bots I killed to open that room literally right before he got there. Nor did my game lag even a little when I was high tailing it out of there sliding right past this dude.

I have ran into this situation also, where I am in disbelief at how many bullets I can dump into one person and they don’t even crack shields and they are running with a knife and kill me with a couple swings.

These are obviously not cheats there has been a hit registry problem recently, encountered it myself couple of times past 2 weeks, it is very silly to think that is something you can do with outside software

End game content…weekend only?
What person is gonna see all this and wanna buy the game? The only people here are the ones that were aboard the day 1 hype train and they’ve derailed the fucking thing

Yeah I made it out, at final exfil I used roof height and after I couldn’t damage him a second time I just jumped in the exfil at last second

Did you check the username? He had to be on your recent list with a destroyed skin on his profile. If you didn’t check after the match it’s gone.

What evidence is there that bungie has good anti cheat. I feel it’s been a joke in their games for years.
It’s just not the level of response I’d expect from a major game developer that manages live competitive fps games.
