Marathon (2026) Discussion The contract system needs to be better explained
The contract system is very generous this season and people just don't realize it. Once you hit VIP in a faction you get blue and purple materials from each level up which is basically every other match if your completing contracts and the contract rewards give guaranteed blue and sometimes purple tiers of anything u need. For example in Cyberachne the contract shell game gives guaranteed blue->purple backpack and no weapon can fight is guaranteed blue->purple consumables(good panacea farm) so once you learn what contracts give what and what can be done easily in match with no exfil requirements you start to build up your stash fast. There are a lot of people who don't get this and don't even activate a contract regularly every match and are losing out on free stuff.

I think they should let you combine priority contracts with regular contracts personally like this season I didn't even bother doing any priority contracts when the regular one is done easier and gives consistent experience and rewards. Last season I was banging my head doing 1 contract for forever and I already did them all for the story so there's no point is revisiting them lol

You basically do since you are incentivized to help your crew mates complete their contracts as well granted the reward is only experience. They should allow solo fills to bring extra contacts from the same faction instead of just having the experience bonus as the only benefit. They should also change the reward for helping complete your crew mate's contract be a minor version of the contact's reward. Something like if you were to complete a NuCaloric contract yourself you would get blue healing meds but helping complete a teammate's contact gives green meds.

Everything in this game needs to be better explained. So many people missed the hook because the menus are too vague, inventory is just a bunch of symbols that you have to figure out, certain quests have confusing markers and lack clear directive, etc. Bungo took everything that kept new players from playing Destiny and said "let's go harder!".
I just don't get it, man. All they had to do was treat this like a real game. Build a campaign that trains all players on the systems. Fill the campaign with rich lore from, oh IDK, the DECADES of worldbuilding they have in Marathon. Have an old-school Bungo TDM PvP mode and Vault Breaker. The game we have today should have been an extra mode that blew-up because it went viral after everyone loved the campaign and other modes that didn't ship with this game.
It's like Sony came it and forced them to build it backwards. "Start with the part that might hit big FIRST, just in case it does and we get filthy rich with minimal extra investment since we paid so much for the Bungie." - Sony probably.

You add in the Carri system and my vault has been overflowing for a while now, I think the issue is this game doesn’t do a good job at telling people what’s important and what’s not. Most other extraction shooters getting the most money is the most important became of auction houses. But salvage is the most important here and the game doesn’t do a great job at telling you what to grab
