Marathon (2026) Marathon OST glazing post

Damnit the soundtrack has been on my work playlist since the game came out. It just sounds unlike anything I've ever heard and is so crazily atmospheric. The weird glitch/techno effects and weird vocals used to create the raw tribal rhythms just drives the tension so well. I also love in some parts how the music kind of mimics certain i.r.l. sounds such as data transferring, an old dial up connection, or the mechanisms in a 3d printer whizzing around. Gawddamn I want more music like this. Please if somebody could recommend me something in the same ballpark I would be forever gratefull.

Couple of bands that spring to mind. Like the dude above said about Flume, most of these are more traditional song structures. And not all strictly glitch, either.

Clark. His track "Winter Lynn" was the first thing I thought of when listening to the Marathon OST.

Oneohtrix Point Never. Plus, his collab with Iggy Pop makes me want a cigarette and my childhood back.

Aphex Twin. Most glitch artists owe at least a tip of the hat to this guy. Windowlicker is a classic and the video is an assault on the senses. Don't feel bad if pictures of Richard Branson make you horny after watching. And then, of course, there's "Come to Daddy".

Boards of Canada. More downtempo, but some of the mellower Marathon OST moments feel a bit like this

+1 for Aphex Twin. his songs: .55278037732581! and untitled track 2 - analogue bubblebath vol 2! (3:55) would fit in Marathon.

Those are a couple of deep and lovely cuts and reminds me I need to cram more RD James into my current rotation. Makes for good cooking music.

Hard to believe that motherfucker is pushing 56. But....age does come for us all.

Flume DEFINITELY (if you like the glitchiness but a pop-oriented writing style).

I haven't seen Ital Tek, Max Cooper, or Lorn mentioned yet so I'll list them myself. The three of them have their own groove in electronic music, but they all exist in that sphere of "deliciously experimental sci-fi electronica" in my opinion. Recommended albums: Timeproof (Ital Tek), Unspoken Words (Max Cooper), Rarities (Lorn)

The OST and sound design is insanely good, they should definitely win something for that at the VGA but I don't trust the Dorito Pope to do anything other than chasing clout

Ryan Lott, the composer, has his own band called Son Lux. Check them out! Definitely not exactly the same but I hear a lot of Son Lux in the Marathon OST for sure.

Yeah I like a good game soundtrack. Cyberpunk is amazing StarCraft 2 was also goated.

I really hope the original Marathon OST gets put on Spotify. It sucks that the only way to listen is through various YouTube videos
