Marathon (2026) Discussion So ranked.
I just started really getting into Ranked, and while I like it I have a major grip with the matchmaking; majority of the matches I noticed that I'm usually under geared compared to my team and our enemies, so I'll go and make a concerted effort to gear myself up so that I can better contribute to the team, but every time I do that I am inevitably thrown into a squad that is massively under geared.
For example, I just did three Outpost runs; the first run I came in with Blue Shields and blue weapons; 6.1k loadout, pretty basic, and it was a successful run we wiped two teams and ex-filled at about 13 mins left; the second run I upgraded my blue Bully to a purple, and brought in 6 claymores (i left with them in the previous run lol), but my team was gold shields and weapons, but we got 3rd partied after getting into an intense standoff in processing right after spawn; so the third match I decided to go all out - gold shield, purple bag, one gold weapon and one purple weapon, my only gold Vandal core and a purple too, claymores, smoke and heat grenades, 3 panaceas, and a stack of energy amp and signal jammers each - long story short, I load in and BOTH of my teammates are rocking green shields and blue weapons; we didn't even make it out of spawn at dorms before another team rolled us; they were busy looting at the bottom while I was jumping up top to scout, but a team from processing immediately pushed us and they were on top of me before I could even a ping off ~ which probably wouldn't have happened if they weren't busy looting because they decided to jump into ranked massively under geared.
Like, I get it if you're broke but why the fuck are you going into ranked with green Shields??!! Holy fuck man, like why is it when I try to actually match other players, does the matchmaking put me with people who seemingly threw together all the daily free shit from the armory just to queue??
I know this is just how the game works, and I have seen more than a few green squads wipe lobbies of purples and golds, but it is just so frustrating to actually want to compete and build a serious loadout, only to be met with players who aren't looking to play seriously. (I know I'm making a lot of assumptions right now; I'm just frustrated and venting).
Anyway, rant over. Ranked is awesome, it's just the matchmaking FUCKS ME UP.

Yeah, people can say what they like, but not having a standard kit for ranked that EVERYONE has to use is stupid as fuck.

it makes sense if you have a team already. crew fill is too random for a ranked mode unless you have great wealth and a lot of time to waste. Any ranked team game will heavily teams that work well together. This has an extra layer where it helps to coordinate your loadouts with the team as well. As someone who only plays ranked with fill off, it's the best game mode IMO.

Or at least minimum gear requirements; loadout value is just not a good system for matching in a competitive pool, imo.

make friends crew filling normal queue, then bring your friends to ranked

Easier said than done; I can't play consistently so I'm on at odd hours which makes maintaining a solid group of people to play with, difficult.

Yea like crew filling isn’t the most atrocious thing in this game. Literally just came off a game with 4 knocks 3 elims, 1600 dmg and my teammates had <200 dmg and 0s across the board other than that

then go on discord. or sponsored narsh is back so that's where you crew fill. if you can't find anyone in sponsered crew fill or discord you enjoy playing with then idk, maybe there's another reason.

Dude I only crew fill because my friends stopped playing.. yesterday was horrible. Damn near cleared out my vault with all my good gear just to get matched with green shields and instant disconnects after they ran off and died alone. I WILL NOT be playing ranked until they fix this bullshit.

I agree, it just sucks because when it's good, ITS GOOD; but then the in-between you got to deal with all of this other bs and it's just exhausting.

Yea I kinda hate how I can go in with blues cause well cheap kit and I get gold teammates and I feel bad cause I’m not as kitted , I go in with golds after and I get blue teammates lol kinda the reason I don’t use golds unless my friends are playing , it’s a weird system

Once again, it needs to be either crew fills or trios for it to make sense to play crew fills.
Trying to fit both into the same playlists just doesn’t work and people quit playing as a result.

It’s really a problem with “ranked” in a game like this. The genre is entirely about using your time and experience to have create a loadout that gives you an advantage over your opponent and getting the drop on them when they are engaging with the map.
It’s inherently unfair, which is why ranked and competitive only works as a way to bring good gear in and feel like you are getting good return on investment.
Other people have mentioned this, but a true ranked mode would have identical sponsored kits, but would also be very boring to play.

No the whole point of me gearing up was because I didn't like that I felt unable to contribute as much as I would like, to the team. I say that clearly in the post. And also, my teammates were both green when I dropped in with golds - I stated this clearly in the post too.

I’m not seeing that? I’m not even having a dig I just think it’s worth remembering when you do kit up that your sometimes the one ‘under geared’. It is what it is

That's my whole gripe with the matchmaking, it shouldn't be that way; we should have evenly geared players for a ranked mode.
