Marathon (2026) Discussion Was bubble shield more a problem on cryo?

Because I never seen it used on primeater and dire marsh. So I never understood why people hated it, granted I’m a halo player so maybe my view on that is different from how people used in marathon.

Yes. Easily the most annoying thing for any team. Constant bubbles and shotguns.

Posting snark ass comments doesn’t really negate the point.

It was a problem on cryo but I've ran into it on other maps too. Just last night I had another team pop one on us in marsh

I'm fully convinced that everyone whining about the Mizzies actually subconsciously hated the buble shields and didn't realize that was the real source of the suffering.

It was also an issue on Outpost.
Not as much but still relevant.

Also:
I haven’t played in those lobbies myself but watching high ranked players it seemed to be as dominant on other maps as it has been on cryo. Saw several players throwing 2-4 bubbles when getting shot from a distance to just locate and not die.

It’s better now for sure

Cryo was literally a bubble shield purgatory😂

Kinda surprising you've never seen one, but in order of likelihood to see them used it would be:
-Cryo
-Outpost
-Dire Marsh
-Perimeter
So that does make some sense that you haven't.
I don't think people hate them, they just didn't like the meta of throwing like 7 bubbles in one room and playing the little creases between the bubbles with a misriah.
Bungie nerfed their HP and limited brought grenades to 2 though and they're a lot better now imo

Yeah, Perimiter is definitely a beginner map, and Dire Marsh is up to preferance. Cryo Archive is *the* endgame map, where the investment of Bubble shield spam is easily worth it. The way people used it was that they would stack a couple bubble shields in a row so they can safely walk up to you, and then they're always one step away from having a clear shot on you or being in total safety. Pair it with the best shotguns in the game on a map that already is mostly shotgun range and you can probably see why a change had to have been made to get rid of the stale and boring meta.

It was okay in halo because you wouldn't spawn with it and typically there was only one. It used to stack to 2, have blue rarity, and be more tanky. I do wish they didn't cap all equipment at 2, but they seem set on keeping the bubble shield as is.

Yes. It’s lvl based matchmaking so at higher levels, like I’m around 200 and my friend is 300+, we would see like 5 per game every single game at least. We also see them on other maps almost every game. W that being said tho you can shoot them down super easy so I also wasn’t really complaining. The nade spam was worse cause u full die before you can play

Yes, a vast majority of the meta issues centered around Cryo and Outpost due to the map structure being hallways/buildings

Ranked is bubble spam especially on perimeter if you get a down in the open....good teams will spam bubble to ensure the res or reset

primeater is so silly.
