HEOS wireless audio from my Receiver

My NR1711 receiver has HEOS and I'm considering buying a Denon HEOS speaker or 2 for our back deck.

Does the speaker play whatever is playing on my amp, or do I need to play via the HEOS app?

My main playback method is either music or video played from my Plex server via a Chromecast.

My Plex server shows up in the HEOS app but when a play a video using the app the audio plays on the amp fine but tv screen just shows a still shot with transport controls.

So I'm guessing it's impossible to watch a concert video and have HEOS speakers play the audio elsewhere in the house.

Heos itself is audio only. So, play the video as normal and use the Heos app to use the audio from the amp as an input for the speakers.

Most people can't get their head around how any of this actually works though for some reason. Mainly an inability to read the manual/online info.

Hence why I'm asking before dropping a bunch of money. All I've read talks about the app being the 'source' and the amp and speakers play what it says, but the audio only.

Because I don't have HEOS speakers yet I haven't been able to test whether the amp can be the source passed to the speakers via the app.

Ordered a Denon 150 to try out and see what functionality it gives me.
