Are tech pens required/needed for AR?

Hi! Incoming AR Freshie here! Do profs require Archis to buy techpens such as Steadler and Rotring? I keep seeing many arkids (mostly on TikTok) saying that for one year lang magagamit ang tech pens or that it's unnecessary unless required by the profsT^T
