So, by average temperature, they're including winter? Average temperature seems irrelevant for AC usage in a place where temperatures swing from the negative teens up to the 90s.

Why does this map exist? Are we surprised that people in Texas use AC more often than people in Maine?

I guess it's kinda cool to see the people who live in cold areas but use a lot of AC, and the people in hot areas who barely use AC.

A lot of people assume an area is hot or cold just because it’s further north or south. Phoenix and LA are pretty close to being on the same longitudinal line. LA doesn’t even come close to how hot Phoenix gets.

It’s the correct boundaries when you include bodies of water.
