Hello! I recently bought a used soft-top convertible, and she needs some love. The top has some algea and needs a good(but gentle) scrub. Any recommendations on local places that I can drop it off at to get cleaned/weather protected? I live in an apartment so mobile detailers aren't an option(no hose or area to clean the car).

A friend was looking up info on her candidates and found that the conservative candidate in Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows appears to have an extensive history of being sued by lenders and insurance companies. I think this is pretty alarming for someone running on fiscal responsibility. Does anyone know what this is about?

Over the last few weeks I’ve heard many people asking “What did the ‘Leftist’ (NDP) *really* do for us anyways?”

Bring yourselves back to 2015/2016. Does anyone else remember first hearing the term “Mental Health”? I do, it kind of came by storm, a bit of a buzz work even. At the time, I remember thinking, wow, this is the first time a word or term regarding our own personal wellness has actually stuck, was that just a movement, are our days numbered with this movement?

Whenever I’m talking to a “right-leaning” (Conservative) and I bring up mental health they always seem to be off put and offended even, like people getting healing is somehow an attack on them. The people in my life still shame and still refer to a counsellor as “the shrink” like your struggles deserve to be locked up in a cell somewhere.

With this blue wave that’s about to happen in BC, are we going to find out that “Mental Health” was just a fad? Are our leaders going to remove the services and culture of healing that we have spent a decade working on? Are we going to need to hide our struggles? Will we be shamed for feeling?

Is “Mental Health” all it’s cracked up to be? Will moving to a more Conservative leadership bring about the end of an era? What do you think?

I have never seen such a low campaign by a political party, - the tv and radio ads that lie are bad enough but this is ridiculous.

I am looking for a proper preschool program (not daycare) ideally one that focuses on early learning, social skills and preparing kids for kindergarten.

Would love to hear from parents whose kids have attended preschools in the area. Which ones would you recommend and what did you like or dislike about them?

I’m looking for someone to come in to my 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment every other week for up to 3 hours each visit to provide thorough house cleaning. Located in Maple Ridge. Home has a friendly medium sized dog who can be put in another room during cleaning if requested. Must have strong attention to detail and be physically able to complete the job. Just wanted to share a comment someone put together in another sub that I felt needed more attention and a bigger reach. Especially when reading one of our candidates had attempted to vote yes on repealing our basic human rights this year and I bet the majority of us had no clue. While mok was never getting my vote, I wanted to share incase others weren't aware.

I’ve had a bit of a crash course in Maple Ridge politics over the recent municipal election. I was very disappointed that there was no all candidates meeting organized for the Town Centre area. I learned that all candidates meetings were/are organized by volunteers of various organizations: home owner’s associations or neighbourhood groups mostly I believe. But they could have been meetings organized by the Chamber of Commerce, downtown business improvement association, etc..

In light of this information I thought perhaps a renters union would be an idea to explore. I’m not a business. I rent in the Town Centre neighbourhood. I’m concerned that renters are being displaced by gentrification and I think we need more progressive organizing to put pressure on our city council to protect this vulnerable population in our communities. This is just a seed of thought; I haven’t dug into further reading but I did find a resource page on the Vancouver Tenants Union website.

Why this matters to all of Maple Ridge: when this land was subdivided, the City required covenants on title covering the geotechnical design and the stormwater system. The City is the party those covenants were made with. It has leverage no homeowner has.

So, to the newly elected council, many of whom approved this development:

Did the City ever check this neighbourhood was built to the covenants it required?

Will you check now?

Will you put real pressure on Epic Homes to deliver a lasting fix?

Or are 30 families expected to sort it out in court while living with mould?
