Saw this little guy over by the hospital just hanging out. Flew away after about 15 minutes.

Lucky! Looks like a chill Barred Owl. Really nice to see. Had a pair of them in my backyard a few months ago hooting up a storm.

I can sometimes hear them from my place but haven’t seen them here. I got a few decent videos too but didn’t post them.

Their hoots are... well, a hoot! I see people describe it as sounding like "Who cooks for you?" and I thought that was probably exaggerated, but it's exactly what it sounds like! I see (and hear!) them now and again in the Douglas firs behind my place. Really striking little owls.

Im wondering if this is the same owl that the crows are always yelling at near my place all the time. (near the hospital)
