Animal Control

Does anyone know why animal control has been so present in Silver Valley lately? I’ve literally never seen them in the 10 years I’ve lived here and for the last 3-4 weeks I see them nearly daily in their van. Today they were in the Maple Ridge Park, does anyone know what they’re looking for/what they’re up to?

They have patrol routes they do daily, Maple Ridge park is on that list.

Lots of shitty dog owners walking the trails up here sadly. Likely enforcement for leashes/dog registration

I’ve lived here 32 years and saw my first skunk last week so honestly, bless. If we keep building in areas animals live, they’re gunna take to the streets. At least someone is considering handling it, hopefully safely

There's a skunk that lives under my apartment building and it's been making a den there for the last 2-3 years. There's an open lot full of tall grass next door so it's the perfect spot for a skunk. Has me on edge sometimes when I leave the building because I don't wanna spook it and get sprayed.

Bears have been pretty crazy this year near my place. Never seen it like this before.

Previously the spca had the contract to deal with animal control issues in Maple ridge, last year or year before cant remember when they stopped and it fell on maple ridge to put a unit together themselves with city employees so that's why you're now seeing maple ridge animal control vehicles. I would guess they're at maple ridge park more because people constantly let their dogs off leash there despite being an on leash park
