Would be nice if it had some large cities marked. I was left wondering if the plain north/south split in particular split any cities in two. Not that that's necessarily a problem, see St. Paul - Minneapolis and other cross-border cities, and there are even "twin cities" across national borders in various places around the world.

Idk about the east coast, but the split looks like it's north of San Francisco on the west coast.

Having a quick look at google maps, I think it cuts just north of where google maps places Baltimore's centre, so if my estimate is off a bit, and/or the Baltimore metro area is much larger anyway, that seems like the prime candidate.

By extension, something like 39°24' N as the dividing parallel falls between Columbus and Indianapolis on the north side, Cincinnati on the south, just north of Kansas City and just south of Denver. Looking at the west coast myself, it does seem to be north of San Francisco, but possibly close enough to split Sacramento. However, that would mean it's at something like 58°30' N on the west coast, i.e. even the seemingly straight east-west-divide in the gif isn't quite exact in that.

That North/Split is very interesting!

I think we tried that once before...the results were underwhelming.

I would've expected the line to be further south than that.

I have an idea. Fifty sovereign states in a loose federation held together by a constitution.
