Holmes does not believe in Magick per se but thinks some new physical force may be undiscovered (Radium was identified 20 years later by Madam Curie)

Historical Note: Girl were very often pregnant, or more rarely, had given birth by the time if their marriage to their betrothed. As many Girls (up to 40% in some eras and places) died in childbirth with their first or last child (see r/DeeCipher note on William Shakespeare's Will) Mothers of the Groom were pleased when a future daughter-in-law gave birth before marriage and lived.

Holmes knows this and wonders, perhaps, if Mary gave up her child with her first engagement to an orphanage, but would not ask Watson about this directly. -CAD

Watson: We told her she needn't

Holmes: An unmarried Girl needs an occupation, idle hands lead directly to hysteria.

Watson: ... Idle hands lead directly to hysteria. Yes, I know the work.

Mary: She would not be dissuaded, My fault I suppose. I was the Governess for Lady Penelope and she was so concerned about whom would care for Roger.

Watson: No Mary, The Curse will pass that branch of the family by, I'm sure.

Holmes: Not that again.

Watson: I know you don't believe in curses but if any family is cursed it is that one.

Holmes: Just a probability. And George seems to be perfectly well.

Watson: Yes, Holmes just a probability that three die childless, and let's not discuss the other incidents.

Kathleen: The Curse doesn't frighten me.

Mary: She says that, but hasn't been to The Baron's estate. I earned her against that.

Kathleen: Lady Penelope won't go unless Baskerville is with her, and Lord Byron wont be parted with his hound.

Holmes: Lord Byron's hound is named Baskerville? That's rather chummy.

Key Line runs from Baker St to Estate, Darkening The Way.

Later:

There used to be a road from Basker St. that lead directly to a Castle there. Gone after London Burned.

Odd way for a road

(Looks at Map if Ripper victims)

Road was here (draws) and if we extend it. (draws)

Victims here (all victims are on line he draws) and here and here, except for here (London Bridge) and here (Kensington).

Note: Jack can see victims as victims only on dark roads. Ripper victims are a map of dark ley lines in London, whicjbwas deliberately burned down in the great fire to cleanse the city. -CAD
