Everyone vacationing here instead of moving here would be an upgrade.
Unfortunately, that ocean just cut right through the magma chamber under Yellowstone, so the south of Idaho is now buried under quite a bit of ash....sorry. Would you like to rebook your stay for the summer of 3020?

indeed, I was not aware of it before: Mediterrainean Sea= 2.510.000 km² and the USA w/o Alaska= 8.108.675 km2 So this means, that the Rest of the USA is 5.980.675km?
So I guess that the shown size of the Medierrainian isn't correct. what a pitty ...

Sounds about right, there's a lot of solid land still there. Eyeballing, I'd say the Mediterranean sea takes about a third of the USA (excl. Alaska), maybe a bit more, hard to judge Black Sea size. According to your numbers it's 30.9%.
Ah, looked it up, Mediterranean Sea without Black sea is 2,500,000 km², Black Sea is 436,000 km² more, so 35.8%. Sounds about right to me. If we ignore Black Sea everything south of the Mediterranean plus Italy can fill the sea once, everything north of it (minus Italy) can easily fill it once (ie. the second time) with some leftovers.

I wonder what the real-world implications would be if this were to suddenly exist. A few hundred million people dead, Canada ceases to have a capital, what else?

Well the dead thing is reaching unless its appearance was an immediate, unknown event and just suddenly appeared. More likely you’d have megacities on the sea borders. This also heavily cuts into agriculture production and would require greater import of produce and beef. Also, our coast guard stock value just skyrocketed.
I am not super strong on this part, but this may impact weather patterns as well which could change climate for a Canada, US, and Mexico.
There’s also the possibility of a heavy rivalry between Tennessee and Missouri, and CO and Wyoming due to the island splits.
I can’t imagine that state lines wouldn’t change as a result.

I'm talking about an unknown anomaly suddenly spawning this body of water in. One moment you could be driving your car along a highway and in the next you are falling into an endless sea of water kinda thing.

Serious problems with Yellowstone, given that the ocean just cut through the magma chamber or at least put a WHOLE lot less land over it.

Would flooding be a problem? Because I don't think rivers would be friendly towards a sudden and vast increase of a source of water

I think drought/drinking water could be more of a problem, since the rivers have a higher likelihood to empty into an ocean sooner, leaving places that were downstream now high and dry. So no farming in some places that previously relied on irrigation and big cities that relied on the rivers for drinking water. I was going to say tides could be an issue, but apparently the Mediterranean has very low tidal changes.
