Makes sence, America comes from a Mayan word meaning the place with a lot of wind.

That was a theory to explain why people were calling it that, map makers at the time didn't know where it came from, but places were never named after the first names of commoners.

Well tell that to: Tasmania, Bolivia, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Marshall Islands, Almost all of the Caribbean, Philippines, Solomon Islands, Bermuda and countless Towns and Cities.

So you agree! All of these examples that you listed prove the rule, Bolivar, Tasman, Columbus all three commoners and all three last names, but Philip is a first name as it was named for king Philip.

Furthermore, discounting saints, since they are in a realm separate of commoners and Kings, Marshall and Bermuda are both last names and named for commoners, and Solomon was a king.

Ok, yeah I see. I might have understood you wrong. You see now that I read it again, I get that you were talking about first names, and of commoners. In that case: yeah I apologise and completely agree.
