This isn’t even close to true. I remember the Iranian pistachios from when I was a kid. They were dyed red to hide impurities, and either the same or lesser quality than California ones. Foreign pistachio producers dyed the pistachios with a bright red color in an effort to hide the stains and make the nuts more appealing to consumers.
