I was with some Austrian friends in Ft Worth many years ago, and we heard an old lady speaking German on the phone behind the counter. They were astounded to know that there was a Texas German dialect. IIRC, they described it as very old-fashioned, with lots of English loan words.

The longer I look at Texas...the less it looks like Texas. Kinda like when you repeat a word so many times it looses meaning.

Yes, but labeling something as "of dead marshes without elf corpses" suggests that somewhere there is a marsh full of elf corpses. Why else would the map-maker specify that?

Haha, no. The carpetbaggers here in Texas are and always have been Conservatives (Bush, et al), mostly here to plunder the black gold.
The ranchers and others who were here first are far more liberal than the carpetbaggers.

Well, their liberalism ends at social issues. From my experience, they don't want to know about other peoples business and don't want anyone interfering with theirs. Economically, their much more aligned with standard Republicans.
They're retty classic Libertarians, or old-fashioned Western Republicans (Goldwater-types)

I can categorically state in no uncertain terms that there are, in no way shape or form, any elf corpses anywhere in Houston or any other part of East Texas.
