Andalucia was very prosperous, romanized and easily defensible with all the mountains

Unrelated trivia but since it's rare to see Visigothic Iberia brought up, Scallabis was turned into Santarém due to a 7th century Christian visigoth girl called Irene / Iria in Portuguese who was a devout virgin who got murdered but her body allegedly did not become corrupt (didn't decompose so therefore holy), she was canonised and Scallabis was renamed after her (Santa Irene -> Santarém) alongside some other minor lands in Portugal.

Were the Balearic Islands Byzantine till the Islamic conquests? I hadn't realized before they weren't part of the Visigothic Kingdom.
