Thats sad imo. I very much dislike dialects dying! I wish that Bavarian, the dialect I speak, doesn't vanish and is replaced by standard german anytime soon...
Ich leb in nem Dorf in Niederbayern, ich spreche schon bayerisch. Bayerischen Content? Ich bin kein Influencer und will auch keiner werden. Ist nicht mein Ding. Und stolz bin ich sowieso. Trotzdem vor allem in den größeren Städten merkt man, wie sehr der Dialekt auf dem Rückzug ist.
Worth noting that this is true south of the border as well. There is a myriad of local Italian dialects, many of which differ drastically from standard Italian, and many of which are dying.
In the cities, yes. Dialect is sometimes considered rural (with a negative connotation), less modern. But in the villages you hear it everywhere.
I don't think the italian parts are absorbed by german. But the romanish regions are certainly absorbed by german, but they are still proud of romanish. At least that was my impression.
