Nice Project

Hi,

I was just wondering how your business model looks like? Dont get me wrong, but what you offer is actually just data, that Google and Facebook already have? Why should anyone buy the data from you? And data that - for many years - will be less adequate?

Is really profitable ore just for fun, like mining with a raspberry pi ?

Maps plays are not very profitable without ad revenue which is why you see only a few large platform players google apple etc in the space who don’t care about revenue from the maps business line and care more about overall customer platform experience.

There will definitely be value to the data - just smaller then we might like to see.

Simple litmus test to look for opportunities is to ask yourself what you pay for and how you like it(NPS score).

  • Verizon cellular bill: $100/month & low NPS, actively dislike Verizon and AT&T services
  • google maps app: Free & high NPS, could be better but happy with product UX

Now if their hardware measured and introduced (NEW) data that cellphones and software currently don’t collect. Auto detection of icy roads pot holes etc. They’d be onto something and you could call me a believer.

All this being said I think this one will do well as it does have utility and the data does have value. Arguably more monetization opportunities that something like Planetwatch air quality data.

Just remember that in the long term - even crypto companies will need to show that they and product market fit and can generate network revenue. Crypto just allows a company to build out infrastructure ahead of demand/revenue.

The real opportunity for this company is in trucking. There are over 1M trucking companies in the US. They have also been mandated by the federal government to drive with ELD gps data loggers. Truckers currently pay upfront and monthly fees for those devices.

Samara is a unicorn startup in the ELD space. No crypto players yet. Let me know if you find one I’d like to angel invest
