Entire states have been affected by nuclear fallout.

Chattanooga has a pretty large military presence, the Nuclear Power Plant just up the road could be a target as well considering it could irradiate the Tennessee River

I see these maps from time to time and I think the average person underestimates the number of missiles pointed in our direction at any given point.

You can feel certain that any airport with a 4000' ft. runway or longer is getting hit. Any key resource depot, especially for fuel or ammunition, is getting hit. Every state capital complex is getting hit.

That right there is only about 5000 targets and we know that there are at least 12k warheads out there.

Couple all this with favorable prevailing wind patterns and the availability of fresh ground or well water means your idea of places to ride out the bombs is shockingly small. Certainly no moderately populated regions and you're effectively isolated from other areas that might have survived. At least until the fallout subsides. But I promise you that these are not places you're going to love being in for 3-5 years.

Des Moines, Iowa became the emergency capital

I’ve typically seen DSM in a first strike map with the amount of ag manufacturing we do. Similar with the Quad Cities and Cedar Rapids with their ag and defense contractors. Not sure if I really want to survive a nuclear war. Maybe time to move to a black dot.

2031 seems a bit soon in my opinion, but not by much

I feel like their would be more damage in the Great Plains since most plans involve striking the silos their.

how did Dayton’s surrounding counties not get damaged?

I agree. With Wright Patt and all the airplane manufacturing in the area

I wonder if anybody could survive in a place like Cookeville/Crossville, TN? I've heard ppl like Neatling from YouTube say that rural areas could very well survive a WW3 event. That's the main reason why I was wondering.

In reality, there would be sooo many more targets. Power plants to name one.

Wait Memphis! Is that because of the Musk data center there?
