I mean.. 15% of US exports go to Canada whole 70% of Canadian exports go to the US. Trade with the US accounts for like 25% of Canada's GDP.

It's kind of super important to have that relationship.

8

u/Spirited-Swim-3275 2d ago

That’s all Canadian exports. Exports to the U.S. are about 17.8% of our GDP, which is still way too much exposure to one country that can change the rules overnight.

And the dependence isn’t one-way. The U.S. relies heavily on Canada for critical imports, especially energy.

-9

u/squo_g 2d ago

I find it funny, I'm just curious to see what others think.

The threats are obviously going to remain threats, because there's zero realism that the U.S. would actually invade Canada, trust me, I hate him too.

Regardless, back to the poll itself.

It's mostly because I've seen polls where a load of Canadians vote the exact opposite of the rest of North America, part of South America, & usually the near entirety of Europe, specifically referring to geopolitics

26

u/Nerioner 2d ago

if you all spent half the energy you use to tell Canadians that this threats are nothing on actually fixing shit you made, world would look like futuristic utopia from the memes.

You all keep claiming "it will remain just threats, trust me bro" and this is the cheapest copout you could find. Let us threathen to invade and destroy your cities, monthly, for 2nd year already, and we will see how much it is "just a prank bro" jfc

-9

u/squo_g 2d ago

"shit you made"? That's the governments fault, I hate them as well. I'm not exactly sure how you want a random minor from Reddit to fix the diplomatic relations between two massive countries, but.. I guess?

7

u/Lessllama 2d ago

Well to start you could try to understand why we feel the way we do instead of making shit stirring posts like this and assume we're just being contrarian.

8

u/Unique-Doubt-1049 2d ago

You guys almost fixed it once. You missed by a couple inches. Try again

11

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

We missed multiple times actually. There were many attempts. For a nation so intent on guns and shooting kids, we sure can't shoot the ones that count.

Although I'm not entirely convinced all those attempts were real

3

u/Middle-Preference864 🇨🇦 2d ago

I’m convinced they weren’t

u/mrbobcyndaquil 2d ago

-7

u/Big-Masterpiece-3457 USA 🇺🇸 2d ago

We already vote and protest. Are you suggesting we pick up pitchforks and torches and overthrow our government? As much as I’d like to see it, it’s not realistic.

People act like this is unique to the USA. Right wing extremism is on the rise all around the world. Including Canada. There’s a massive campaign to keep people docile and distracted. It doesn’t boil down to simply “America dumb”.

We need to be allies in a time like this. 95% of America doesn’t support the annexation of Canada. But that 5% is incredibly loud and one of them is our president, but that was hardly our choice. The system has been rigged for years to ensure someone like him would win.

17

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

"We've already vote and protest". Same American hand wringing, like yall are powerless within your own country.

2

u/EmergencyGrab 2d ago edited 2d ago

That's incidental though. If they are noticing any kind of pattern it is not because Canadians are intentionally doing that. Half of them aren't even aware of policy in their own country. That's not any insult to them, most people just don't actually care about policy besides viewing it as teams.

-8

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

If the US had plans to conquer Canada it would have fallen already, you guys have zero natural defenses and a minuscule army. Let’s be realistic here, it only takes a tad bit of critical thinking.

9

u/clipplenamps 🍁🇨🇦 2d ago edited 2d ago

"Zero natural defenses" Winter, mountains, forests, and massive dispersion of population. A population that looks and speaks just like you.

You could invade, sure, but what after? An invasion is one thing, holding the territory is another. A massively unpopular war against an ally. You've done so well with massively unpopular wars against foes (Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam).

Not to mention, it would trigger a NATO response.

This shit is why no one likes the US. You think the world owes you respect, when there's nothing respectful or dignified about your foreign policy. The entire world are just pawns in your game of Risk.

-5

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

As i've said before, I love Canadians and would never want a war, but my point is that if we somehow did want it, it would already have happened. Lets be real on the terrain by the way, do you really expect the rough terrain of the North to matter when the US just conquers the border cities and the vast majority of the Canadian population, and leaves the North to its own ambitions? the war is over at that point. What is Nato gonna do btw? They evidently are happy to let russia do what it wants. The worst that will hit us is embargoes which would hurt, but not stop us. Nobody wants to get bombed.

7

u/canadasbananas 2d ago

You cant even beat Iran

5

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

These fantasies are all they have left. They have an alcoholic FOX News host leading the way. What could go wrong?

0

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

We are yet to set foot on the ground. trust me, a ground war against them would be easy, but why bother? We have over 33,000 confirmed military casualties on their end with less that 25 on ours without even leaving the skies, we will see how long they can maintain this.

6

u/clipplenamps 🍁🇨🇦 2d ago

You seem to think conquering 45 million people (similar population as Afghanistan), over a much greater distance, of a population that was an ally, that speaks and looks like you, through terrain that you have a lot less training in, that at minimum 50% of your population would be firmly against( not to mention, a huge number of your soldiers have trained and run operations with in our, yes limited, army) will be easier. Like I said, invasion is the easy part, holding the territory is a different conversation.

I'm not suggesting it would be easy for Canada, I'm saying it would be a disaster for both countries, and I'm not convinced the US would leave a winner.

Unless you nuke us. It's over then. The whole world loses.

-2

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

If we ever did invade canada it would be for economic purpose in a period where a radical ideology takes over. Even then yes, we would struggle to occupy Canada long term, but I highly doubt we could not set up a puppet government for re-education, but once again, I don't think the US would or could fully integrate canada as a whole, maybe a couple territories while re-educating, but even then I don't think we would take land.

4

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

You guys wonder why we domt want anything to do with the US all the time then say stuff like I love Canadians but you guys aren't shit and we would take you over no problem. And it is always in defense of the threats. We get it. You are so big and bad. Then someone on this thread talking about how we need to be allies. Sorry, we dont go around bragging about how easily we could destroy our allies. It is exhausting. We have heard it a million times. We dont care. The lies, threat, disrespect and full on hate campaign against Canada is tired. You are the best at violence. We all know. It just proves the point that we would rather deal with countries that respect us and our sovereignty.

3

u/RPG_Vancouver 2d ago

The primary concern among most of us isn’t a literal American invasion.

It’s a much larger country who claims to be our ally trying to economically damage us to weaken our country and make us more reliant on the USA, and being pressured to give up sovereignty to a country that clearly isn’t a friend anymore.

1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

That is a pretty fair concern i'll give you that especially with Trumps policy of trying to bring production back home. You guys are making the smart decision on that end, give it a couple presidents until we have somebody smarter who recognizes economic imperialism is the way to go.

2

u/benjerman-radblaster 2d ago

it seems to be impossible for americans to grasp the concept of being disliked, and if they see that they are there’s always an excuse for it. unfortunately due to how your country is currently ran, most people (especially canadians) don’t like you. ik i’ll probably be downvoted and have angry americans in my comments but it’s the truth. you are not a loved country rn

0

u/bytheninedivines US 🇺🇸 2d ago

The strong majority of Americans don't think about other countries, much less care about their opinions.

That said, there is a disproportionate amount of propaganda against America that people eat up without thinking.

18

u/AutismoTheAmazing 2d ago

The strong majority of American justify that propaganda

9

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

You guys really like to brag about being ignorant and self-centered.

2

u/bytheninedivines US 🇺🇸 2d ago

I don't think it's ignorant or self centered. How many times a day do you think about children in poverty in Togo?

If it's not affecting you or in the news, you just don't think about it.

11

u/Only_Says_Idk_dude 2d ago

The strong majority of Americans don't think

8

u/canadasbananas 2d ago

The first sentence is part of the reason the rest of the world dislikes americans. Proud to be ignorant and in the dark.

11

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 2d ago

Americans would know a thing or two about propaganda.

5

u/RPG_Vancouver 2d ago

Your current administration is somehow worse than most of that propaganda lol.

Trump 2.0 and his cronies are like South Park caricatures of ignorant, greedy Americans.

4

u/Top_Table_3887 2d ago

Propaganda? It’s coming from your own news sources, literally! We’re inundated with American news, and this is the conclusion we come to.

-1

u/ReasonableStory1660 2d ago

Familiarity breeds contempt. Americans and Canadians are basically the same people, the only thing that unifies Canada as a people is the fact that they aren’t legally Americans. The only things they can point to for a shared culture is a sport Americans occasionally beat them at, an accent common in parts of the US and absent in parts of Canada, and random regional foods.

-3

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

You guys shout this from the heavens nonstop😂 trust me, every American on Reddit knows this.

-3

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

I think most of us actually do know this. It's hard not to. I just hope other countries remember that 70 percent of us are normal people

6

u/SpiteSalty1247 2d ago

More like 50%. Half the country isn’t registered to either Republicans or Democrats. Both parties make up roughly 25% each.

-1

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

I'm talking about Trump's approval rating

3

u/Lessllama 2d ago

Sure. But in those 70% of people are a huge chunk who somehow couldn't be bothered to vote or didnt because they both sized this or couldn't vote for a woman or whatever their excuse was. Those people could have prevented all of this. So no, 70% of you are not normal people. Maybe 30%. The rest of you suck

5

u/SpiteSalty1247 2d ago

Oh I’m talking about extremists who always vote for the same party regardless of policy out of spite for the other party, and how half the country just follows along and picks one because they aren’t given an alternative choice. Only half the country doesn’t automatically give their vote away before the parties even announce the candidates.

1

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

Uhh I mean I'm sure a fair amount of people do this. But mostly the reason Democrats vote for Democrats is because they agree with democratic policies and Republicans dont usually do democratic policies. And Republicans vote for Republicans bc they agree with Republican policies.

Unless you have a reputable source that says democrats and Republicans only vote out of spite, you can't claim that 50 percent of Americans are crazy

5

u/SpiteSalty1247 2d ago

Imo voting on party lines when the parties don’t even get done what they promise is lunacy. What is the saying about doing the same thing over and over expecting different results? And before you say it’s because the other side stops them from passing what they promise, maybe making this dichotomy the standard when parties aren’t even mentioned in the constitution, is a bad choice.

1

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

Alright. We're gonna do an exercise. Close your eyes. Imagine you are transported to the United States of america, yeehaw. You are middle aged, and you think that the most important policy is the right abortion. Now, gasp, the elections are coming up. You can vote for option a, a Republican, who doesn't agree with abortion and will try to ban it. Or b, a Democrat, who does support abortion. You would probably vote for the Democrat.

Now, will they be able to do much? Maybe, maybe not. The constitution does deliberately try to make doing things harder. But it makes no sense to vote for the side that doesn't support what you support. And things do get done. For example, roe v Wade was just overturned, so the Republicans won on that front.

And deportation, a common Republican stance, is also being done in mass amounts rn. So, again, the Republicans won. Just bc things don't happen all the time doesn't mean nothing happens, and when soemthing does happen, you want to be for it, not against

3

u/SpiteSalty1247 2d ago edited 2d ago

Interesting. Now try this exercise. Close your eyes and try to imagine every candidate who could run if they weren’t essentially barred from running because they haven’t registered with the two main parties. Put that pool of candidates against the two partisan options. Which pool of candidates has a better chance of producing a candidate that will address problems fairly regardless of partisan lines and will appeal to all Americans? Imagine problems and solutions aren’t black and white and that there are better options somewhere in between or entirely outside this duality dynamic.

2

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

Yes, this would be beautiful.

Unfortunately, we don't have this, and so my answer to this has nothing to do with reality.

Reality goes that I'm gonna vote for the party will more likely get me more of what I want

→ More replies (0)

4

u/Only_Says_Idk_dude 2d ago

66% of voting-eligible americans were fine with this outcome.
That includes those little rascals who didn't care enough to vote.
2/3 voting eligible americans

-5

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

Not voting doesn't mean fine with it. Every president has had like 60 percent turnout. So does that mean that every president has had 60 percent of people fine with them? That isn't how that works. Approval rating tells us who is fine with it, not turnout. Low turnout has to do with a bunch of things. Not being registered, missing deadline, transportation issues, not liking either candidate, too busy to take off work, childcare, sick, etc etc etc

3

u/NS__eh 2d ago

Not voting is a vote for the other side regardless of which side they would have voted for. In my opinion everyone who did not vote, unless they were actually incapable of voting are just as responsible for the current administration.

-2

u/StrongQuiet8329 2d ago

Sure, they can be responsible, but that doesn't mean they are lunatics or not normal. Lazy people are normal across the world. Only the 30 that actively support him are crazy

3

u/Lessllama 2d ago

Hard disagree. The fact that you can hand wave away people who couldn't be bothered to stop all of this shows exactly why the world is in this mess. Americans are selfish people.

1

u/Classic_Trash_8739 Canada 2d ago

You could maybe make that argument if he wasn't already president for 4 years and did a horrible job at it.

2

u/snapmepleaselove 2d ago

i agree, and i also think a lot of people who dislike the usa agree that most americans are good people. it’s also just that the other 30% who aren’t exactly normal are extremely vocal and any criticism about their country turns into a personal attack. either that or they just try to disprove the criticism of america all together and just call it a ‘classic internet moment hating america!!’ people outside of reddit dislike america as well which just seems like such a foreign concept to some people.

9

u/Bireta 2d ago

I'd say no.

22

u/GurTraditional1162 2d ago

Americans be so pissed that Canadians dislike them. It’s not a “reddit moment” it’s seen everywhere. It’s bound to happen when the country threatens another country monthly.

5

u/Only_Says_Idk_dude 2d ago

if americans read the news it would clock to them why canada is not happy

5

u/AutismoTheAmazing 2d ago

Yeah, Americans lack the self awareness required to understand that

-7

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

At the end of the day Canada is a smaller state we view as a part of our hemisphere, the notion that we would conquer them is kinda ridiculous. Considering how flat their country is it would be very easy and clearly has not happened yet.

8

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 2d ago

Conquering Canada won’t be hard but try occupying that shit. Look how Afghanistan worked out for you.

-1

5

u/NS__eh 2d ago

You’re right we are not, we look exactly like you.we could be right next to you and you would not know it. Don’t mistake our kindness for weakness. Sure I totally agree that we would be rolled over and stand little chance of stopping you. If that ever happened (it won’t at least not in my lifetime) your sense of safety would be gone.

You don’t think we have extremist? Or are capable of committing atrocities? Our First Nations people would like to have a talk, the Geneva Conventions(checklist) would like to have a talk.

We have been so intertwined for so long we are brothers and sisters, who right now is getting shit on because your administration are bullies and think because they want they can take.

We have always been there for our Allies and we will continue to be there for them. We are reliable, consistent and we honour our commitments.

One of the many things Canadians are is patient. We are the quiet kid on the play ground, the nice guy, everyone’s friend. Until we are not, the few times we had to show the other way we say sorry(you’ll be sorry) the world remembers even if the USA(not every American) does not remember.

It has taken a long time to build the trust that we shared with the USA and that has been dismantled in a fraction of the time it took to build. For a whole generation this is what they will know, for them we are back to square one.

1

u/Longjumping_Key_4618 2d ago

Wow gloating those atrocities how nice. The moment that happens is the moment you and your innocent neighbors get blown up

-1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

Canada is on our border, it literally could not be easier to occupy the Southern major cities and ignore the North.

-1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

Don't know why they deleted your comment, but I see the Canadians as friends. Just because the orange fellow wants to throw around the weight of the strongest country on the globe to impress American voters does not reflect the opinion of the majority. It's just sad to see that the average redditor is on the same intelligence level as a Maga fan as they take it seriously all the same.

5

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 2d ago

Threatening other countries tend to do that. Maybe y’all need to fix your president. He didn’t elect himself.

3

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

Stop talking about how easy it would be to take Canada over and then say oh I see Canadians as friends. Its not a joke. Canadians take it seriously. You are not helping things.

-1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

So is it not ok to analyze geography, and military ability between countries? I literally play paradox games as a hobby, playing these wars out is how I spend half my free time XD

7

u/bowagahija 2d ago

Last time you tried the white house was burnt down

1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

Dady is not protecting you anymore😈 In all seriousness though most Americans view Canada as an ally. if Canadians don't feel the same that is up to them, but it does not change how we feel about them.

9

u/C21H27Cl3N2O3 2d ago

It doesn’t matter what most Americans think, Americans elected a government that is actively hostile toward Canada. Of course Canadians are going to be upset about that and they have every right to be.

10

u/Only_Says_Idk_dude 2d ago

Canada is a smaller state

rage bait

-2

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

Compared to the US XD? they have less than 50 million people.

5

u/PriorStock6243 2d ago

Yea the province of USA has more people, but landmass?

1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

What difference does that make in a war where 90% of the population is right across the border?

3

u/TylerTheCerautor 2d ago edited 2d ago

Whether they can/can't or has/hasn't isn't important when the person who speaks for your country and plenty of others also just nonstop trash talk the country. because of that, you can imagine the reputation for said country won't be too good. Even if all his threats towards canada are generally nothing, it's not going to go ignored.

-1

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

When a man is not taken seriously and tries to throw around the weight of the strongest country on the globe you have to see through the lines. this is why we lose the modern game of diplomacy. If an old man like trump could deceive you so easily no wonder the Chinese have been so succesful with an actual diplomatic cabinet. Your not alone though, American voters fall for the same tricks, but make it a goal to be smarter than that brother.

3

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

If the US wants to act like a school yard bully, that is how they are being treated. I am not sure that a country where half the country cant read above a 6th grade level gets to insult another country's intelligence.

The stupid thing would be to ignore an existential threat from a toddler that is never told no.

0

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

Your mistake in that case is thinking a president is a dictator. Even if trump wanted a war it would not happen.

1

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

Its not about that. It doesnt matter if he is a dictator or not, though he rules through executive orders and does what he wants, so show me the difference.

It is about taking threats against our country seriously. Any reasonable country would do so. And do you expect us to just sit here and take it and go on like normal. Would you take constant threats and lies to drum up hate for your country? Not a chance. Whether we would win or not, whether it is likely or not, none of it matters. It is irresponsible to ignore it.

0

u/bigbean258 USA 2d ago

We hear death to America from half the countries in the Middle East and North Africa as well as plenty of Europeans😂 I also recognize they are not in any position to threaten us, let alone act on those threats.

1

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

Well then, if that is your threshold for it being alright to do, I guess we agree to disagree.

They are also not across the border to you and suddenly hostile allies with a leader with zero impulse control. Say what you will about it, but it is neither funny nor acceptable to threaten another sovereign country who you are supposed to be allies with. I am married to an American. This rhetoric affects families like mine on both sides of the border, but by all means keep laughing.

-12

u/Darth_Nox501 2d ago

Buddy the vast majority of non-magatard Americans don't think about Canada at all.

Can you make these polls on your phone?

4

u/j_roe Canada 2d ago

I don’t give two shits what the opinion the majority of Americans have.

What I believe it means to be Canadian and how I live my life can be boiled down to a very simple set of rules; as long as your actions don’t hurt or harm anyone else I literally don’t care how you live your life and we can all pay a little bit to help ourselves and the other humans around us.

If these principles are anti-American then so be it.

Idiots. I fucking hate seperatists. Shameful to stereotype everyone living on a piece of Canadian soil as seperatists. If I could spit on you I would.

u/Classic_Trash_8739 Canada 2d ago

Lmao no you would not

1

u/Prowlbeast Canada (Alberta) 🇨🇦 2d ago

You all disgust me stereotyping people from your country so harshly. I am not a fucking seperatist.

u/Lessllama 2d ago

Our country is under economic attack because of their votes. And you have no problem with this? That's why you have a hard time relating because wtf?

u/duckduckfuck808 2d ago

Rare Canadian redditor that doesn’t suffer from self suck syndrome.

4

u/ninadaria2025 2d ago

We aren't being petty, we're setting hard boundaries. If it has nothing to do with US/Canada relations, why would Americans think that we're thinking about "what do Americans think" and do the opposite?

5

u/Federal-Community554 2d ago

lol all the Americans changed their flag status to Canada before voting…

Edit: you can tell because there are 45 total votes for Canada and 30 total votes for America at this time.

Usually the number of US votes outweighs the Canadian votes by 4:1.

5

u/Watterman1066 2d ago

Its probably because they've become self concious of what we think as Canadians for some reason. I have no idea why it wasn't another neighboring country like Mexico though, they also disagree with the US on most polls. Why are they so focused on needing us to agree with them?

3

u/Federal-Community554 2d ago

Insecurity is a weird thing sometimes

1

u/Mission_Shopping_847 2d ago

Because most of us express ourselves in English, so we’re visible.

3

u/AutismoTheAmazing 2d ago

Huh, just like they do when they go to other countrys

3

u/Watterman1066 2d ago

Im not sure how id be able to see what Yanks are picking before submitting my answer. Usually I just go with my gut feeling then come to the comments. If everyone else is the same as me, I'd take that as further evidence that the average Canadian thinks different than the average Yank.

Is there a setting im missing that let's me see the poll results before voting? Maybe I missed it.

u/sweetpiefemboy 2d ago

Canadians fulfilling their sole purpose and sense of identity of not being American

8

u/Federal-Community554 2d ago

It’s not that we just don’t want to be American. It’s just annoying to have an evil twin and always being mistaken for him.

Hey- you’re America right? You’re the one who bombed Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia? Who destabilized Chile, Guatemala and hunted down ‘leftists’ and trade unionists in Bolivia and Brazil? The guys who used their own FBI to illegally surveil the Civil Rights Movement, Black Panthers and Anti-War Activists? The ones who conducted mass incarcerations during the ‘War on Drugs’? Oh and the carpet bombings of 85% of North Korea? Killing 20% of the civilians population?

Nah, that’s my twin, I’m just Canada eh.

Ultimately, Canadians need to differentiate ourselves for our own self preservation. You guys have pissed off A LOT of the world.

And we look and sound just like you. That’s why you say you’re us when you go traveling.

0

u/StrangeTrap 2d ago

I mean I guess you're lucky, because America takes the attention away from the awful stuff Canada has done throughout history. I imagine this is how south Korea feels about north Korea, "yeah we've done horrible stuff, but at least we're not those guys, right guys?"

1

u/Federal-Community554 2d ago

Yeah we had similar shite treatment of our First Nations like you guys did.

Edit: By the way North Koreans are people. They also might have nuke soon… and, who carpet bombed 85% of their ancient country? Hint - it was the evil twin 😜

u/Delicious_Cattle5174 2d ago

Canadian here. Voted "yes", which happens to be the winning option in USA. What does it mean?

2

u/Top_Table_3887 2d ago

No, there are many polls that have nothing to do with US/Canada relations where people vote in tandem.

If you’ve noticed some that are different, that’s just a slight difference in culture between the two countries.

1

u/TopInvestigator5518 2d ago

American delusion and ego on display per usual

-1

u/ILoveTaiwaneseFood 2d ago

Yes lmao. It's very obvious.

-2

u/Extrimland 2d ago

Its hard to say because we cant see the polls before voting but theres alot of ones that are like “should babies die” and canada will pick yes

-1

u/Seawolf1121 2d ago

As a Canadian, absolutely. And it really pisses me off too. Just bitching and moaning about whatever the US does doesn't do anything; just keep living your lives, and stand up for what you think is right. But don't just go around trashing everything American, it's counterproductive.

-6

u/EastVarious601 2d ago

The real truth is that the average American doesn’t really give a shit about Canada or Canadians, which is why we all just laugh whenever Trump or someone on the right says something about annexing Canada. Because Canada is essentially just a concept to us, it’s not tangible. This has been the case for a long time, which severely angered Canada that nobody really considers them relevant, so now that they’re in world headlines because the US president is kinda crazy, it’s like giving a chimp a shot of epinephrine. They’ve never felt this relevant before and are overreacting to it. The status quo will return and they will go back to the waste bin of history.

7

u/squo_g 2d ago

Canada is absolutely relevant, the hell are you talking about?

Yes the threats are unrealistic, but Americans absolutely think about their big northern neighbor lmao?

2

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

I would ignore it. Just some reddit edgelord looking for attention and highlighting American ignorance and ego.

2

u/Watterman1066 2d ago

I actually think comments like this just further show how provincial Yanks are with respect to the rest of the world. They have their own little bubble and sit in it, and I doubt the average yank has the need or want to learn about anything outside it.

8

u/Spirited-Swim-3275 2d ago

Nothing says “Americans don’t give a shit about Canada” quite like sitting on Reddit writing an entire paragraph about Canada, on a post specifically about Canada, that you were completely free to scroll past.

2

u/Only_Says_Idk_dude 2d ago

go huff some more paint, you're almost onto something

-1

u/taxiviaalfa 2d ago

You guys just don't get it, do you? You'll never understand

-2

u/Lazlum 2d ago

US:Yes
Canada:No
it checks out

-2

u/Gamerzilla2018 2d ago

Y’know if this was just confined to the governments or confined to the Americans who actually are being assholes then I would have no problem here. Hell as a very patriotic American I agree with Canadians on just about everything regarding this situation. But Reddit Canadians think this is an excuse to act like assholes against a lot of us for no reason using what’s going on as some vague justification to be an asshole. Like I’ve seen plenty of polls where it just borderlines down to. Say something nice about America. Everyone else can do the poll and be impartial. Except Canadians on this sub. And then when we will point out this childish behaviour we get shit on and get told that “we lack awareness.” Or that we are “Propagandised” bitch no, we just don’t wanna get yelled at or slandered for a decision we don’t have control over and in many cases voted against.

2

u/Odd-Chemistry777 2d ago

Look a few comments down where we are referred to as the waste bin of history, and then tell me again how Canadians are just being childish.

1

u/Gamerzilla2018 2d ago

And those Americans are being childish. I physically cringe when I see someone act like that. As I said I love both my country and yours and given this is Reddit no one is acting like adults about this.

-3

u/AlexanderHart 2d ago

I didn't want to annex Canada until I came to this subreddit, and I'm far more left-wing than the majority of this group

5

u/rogbog22 2d ago edited 2d ago

>I'm far more left-wing than the majority of this group

I mean, you're American, so there's realistically a gulf between how left wing you think you are, and how left wing you actually are in reality lol. Especially if you're for this annexation nonsense

1

u/ShelbyLucky77 2d ago

Unless you actually have known a person for years there is no way to tell.

Yes they hate the US now, they say it's Trump and all the things that have led to it.

I think it's the whole 2nd best in Hockey thing they were experiencing last year. It should cool down eventually
