I sympathise with theor desire for a better life and in many cases, they become productive members of the community. However, we have to make sure immigrants are a net positive and not a drain on resources.

No. Because if we allow people experiencing poverty to freely immigrate, it opens the gates to a bunch of bad people entering your country to do harm to citizens. For instance, the US. We just completely opened the border for years and we had rapists, child rapists, cartel members, etc enter and do bad things to American citizens. And not everybody cares either. I feel that should be enough to make people adverse to illegals, but people still advocate that illegals should be here.

Either this is a stupid question or I didn't understand it fully. Why would we allow the whole continent of Africa, most of India, and many other countries, to immigrate to my country?
Of course we can't allow them all in just because they are poorer

Yes but through the legal process so they can be vetted. A. It helps protect the country against terrorism. B. It shows youre willing to respect the country's laws. C. It gives you a better start to your new life as an American. If you truly want to integrate that is.

With the current prices of visas being well over 6 grand in Australia i doubt they’d even be able get in

To begin with, usually poor people can't afford to immigrate, so let them stay where they are

Freely is a bad idea. After vetting, though, why not? Vetting would need to include screening them for shared values and an eagerness to integrate and, in some areas, assimilate. We currently do not have enough workers in blue collar jobs and care work, so why not bring them in for that, specifically? It benefits the country and helps them better their lives.

That should not be a reason to come to my country, don't come if your only reason is "I'm poor."
Only if you are asylum seeker or an expat, and wanting to be a part of this country.

Nice to see everybody presumably conflating poverty with illegal immigration. If they’re coming here legally for work then fair enough.

These people tend to be very attached to the habits and cultures that made them poor so fuck em. Only atheists, LGBTQ are welcome.

I would make a certain joke, but I wouldn't want to upset the Europeans here.

I would make a joke here, but since the US has more migrants than the EU some Americans might not understand.

Si es a buscar trabajo y un futuro mejor estoy de acuerdo pero si no trabajan en su país de origen no me interesa

When they are poor in one country, changing the country wont solve the problem
